The Beaver's Elite Eight NCAA tourney win over a #1-seeded Baylor squad in late March continues to yield positive results. The Oregon State University women's basketball team is now relevant in Texas, a well-known recruiting hotbed for AAU girls basketball talent. As shared on this forum previously by others, the Beavers remain in contention for 6'7" Sedona Prince (ESPNW's #9 in Class of 2018), 6'3" NaLyssa Smith (#4 in Class of 2018), and a top ten guard from the Class of 2017 who plans to visit Oregon State this month. Once that visit becomes official and has been confirmed/reported elsewhere, we can look forward to discussing that potential recruit in more details in this forum. For another look at some of the Texas talent that the Beavers are pursuing, all three of the recruiting targets noted above are discussed in the Prospects Nation article below. prospectsnation.com/story/check-me-out-texas-upperclassmen-shine

What about international recruiting like WSU, Wash., CAL and UCLA are now doing? All is fine with recruiting, ya duck. The United States of America produces good talent. The program isn't going to fall off the face the the Earth and become an easy game. But keep telling yourself that Rueck is just a figurehead.

"What about international recruiting like WSU, Wash., CAL and UCLA are now doing?"
The OSU coaching staff isn't sleeping on international talent. Sophomore Marie Gulich (Germany) will be expected to play a significant role on this year's squad, helping to offset the loss of Ruth Hamblin. Kolbie Orum is Canadian. Hamblin is Canadian.

The Beavers finished second in the recruiting battle for Germany's Satou Sabally, a 6'2" forward/wing who recently opted to verbal to the University of Oregon. Sabally traveled to Corvallis and Eugene last month on official visits. The Ducks continue to stockpile 6'2"+ talent following a massive haul of length from the high school Class of 2016. The Prospects Nation story on Sabally is accessible in the link below. prospectsnation.com/story/sabally-picks-oregon
