I was checking the scores and saw that volleyball lost to South Dakota and University of the Pacific. It's such a great sport and I hate to see us be so poor at it year in and year out. The run to the sweet 16 a couple years ago was awesome but such a blip on the screen for the vb program.

I know they've won national championships. |

I know they've won national championships. I'm not sure. It's just as a Pac 12 school I wish our team more resembled the conference we play in. I can dream can't I? :-) |

I would be happy to be wrong, but I was really surprised with the coach they hired. After something like 9 years of being in the bottom half of the conference with no NCAA appearances, they then have one good season reaching the sweet sixteen (although they actually finished .500 in conference). They immediately follow the next year with the same bottom half of the conference performance. After this this when the head coach resigns the Athletic Director decides to hire the Associate Head Coach who had been there for most of these years, if not all. I was disappointed as it seemed they did not want to go and find the the best candidate. I am not extremely optimistic there will be any improvement.
Granted the academics of the volleyball team are very good. I would just like to see them more competitive every year in the Pac-12. Yes, I do understand that means probably being or being close to a top 25 team every year. Here to hoping the current coaching staff can improve some.
Just looked at their record and 7 and 4 looks average, but now they start into the Pac-12 schedule. It will be interesting to see how they fare.
