Grace ran a 15:30.55 and is, apparently, the national leader in the event! Her old record was 15:58.93 Kaylee Mitchell also broke the OSU record at 15:48.22. Article(s) are not up yet at osubeavers.com - it appears everyone is out of town.

Huge breakthrough for Fetherstonhaugh, probably both mental and physical. Katelyn Tuohy from NCSU is by far the top collegiate distance runner now. Last year she ran a 15:14 5000. That mark puts her #8 on the all-time collegiate list. At 15:30, Fetherstonhaugh is one second per lap from that mark. That's an enormous accomplishment. In the race at SF, a Chinese professional won the race and was three seconds clear at 1800m. Mitchell was the only woman to go with her but dropped back from 1400 - 1800. At 3000, He (Chinese woman) had 4.5 seconds on Mitchell and seven seconds on seven other runners. From 3400 - 3800 Fetherstonhaugh took over the chase position by running a 71.9 lap. At 4200 Fetherstonhaugh trailed He by three seconds and the field was another six seconds back. At the bell, Fetherstonhaugh was two seconds back and had a minimum of 7.5 seconds on everyone else. Her final lap was a bit slow, finishing four seconds behind He but still three seconds clear of third place. Mitchell faded some after 3800, but still pr'ed at 15:48.
