Beavs kept battling (for the win) Bazzana 3 for 5 Reeder 2 for 3 (2 doubles) - maybe Reeder should get more playing time, given the lack of hitting in the 2023 lineup HR's by both Guerra and Weber Brady Kasper clutch ph triple in 9th Final 3 innings (after Grewe) staff gave up 1H and 0 Runs.
Can't think of a better way to spend a Wednesday afternoon
oh! and Keljo, 3 batters faced / 3 strike outs.

Really beginning to wonder about Canham's smarts as a college baseball coach. 101-51 (.644) in his first three full seasons, advanced to regional final in Year 1 and to Super Regional final in year 2. Yeah, he doesn't have a clue.

I thought one real mistake (can't remember the inning) we had a runner on 3rd and Dern was at the Plate. Why didn't we squeeze? Did we need another K?

Yeah we’re up 2-0 in maybe in the 4th, man on second with no outs then third with one out and I’m thinking just make contact! Two strikeouts instead. A bunt would have been nice to get that run with one out.

Dernedde's BA progression from 2021 to 2023: .290 > .216 > .167. His OBP tracks similarly: .476 > .319 > .243. He is 2 for his last 24 AB. He had 2 HRs way back in February., but that's ancient. It's an acceptable luxury to have a non-hitting SS if he's fielding genius, or if the other 8 hitters in the lineup are pretty darn good. Neither are true on the 2023 Beavs. Dernedde has cut down a bit on errors, but his range is average at best. There was a brief experimentation a while back with alternative shortstops. Here's hoping the experiment is revived.

Yeah, he doesn't have a clue. Mitch puts a premium on player development mid week. Casey approached every game as a must have to get into the NCAA tournament. The consistent intensity by coach and team was fun to watch. It was also mostly unsustainable over the course of a 60 game season for everyone but the coach, which was also fun to watch. The college game has changed, our staff has changed. I try to keep in mind that our current head coach won a national championship with a team that was not very good until May and June. Then they were really good. Gotta let them try to develop the talent and enjoy the ride, wherever it takes us.

He used mid-week games to throw pitchers that were not necessarily in the normal rotation and he played some guys that were not weekend starters. He wanted to win, but he used these games, much like MC is using them, to give other players a shot to prove themselves. I like how the same people that are bitching about the weekend players are being critical of MC playing other guys. That’s how you find your “weekend” guys, by letting them show what they have in mid-week games.

I’m fine with MC giving the youngsters some meaningful innings. I would be fine with mid-week games spent finding a new SS (Kane?)

Really beginning to wonder about Canham's smarts as a college baseball coach. With all due respect, have you ever watched some Beaver games (you name the sport) and not advocated on Benny's House that the coach is stupid?

Michael Tsoulakas, the guy that hit the 3 run blast for Seattle U. today is a left handed hitting catcher from Arlington, Washington that has always been a good hitter.
He was committed to Oregon State for two years prior to a parting of ways with the Beaver staff.

If you want to talk egregious, I'd say a limit of 2 pickoffs is pretty egregious. Heck, I'd call it stupid.
