Pilots coming off sweep of Pepperdine. Beavers showed some fight on the farm. For a game that usually doesn’t mean much, this one means something.

Midweek games test pitching depth and we have enough arms. Plus, you may look at the record and think we suck, but the Cardinal escaped with three hard fought victories. We didn’t give them away.

I would say if we lose tonight we have real problems. Portland looks to have decent hitting, a few Pitchers striking out quite a few. You would think we should handle these guys quite easily but then again we sure find ways to lose.

This team did take a series at Texas A&M. Could they be the best team in Oregon / NW to date?

This team did take a series at Texas A&M. Could they be the best team in Oregon / NW to date? Unpopular take: Best team in the Northwest as of this moment: 1. Oregon 2. Washington 3. Portland 4. Wazzu 5. Oregon State 6. Gonzaga
Nowhere to really go but up. Ferrer is not 100%, and Turley is green. Oregon State needs both to become who we believe them to be sooner rather than later; otherwise, this is not going to be a great season.
Interesting that Portland plays @ Goss tonight, and Wazzu also plays in Spokane tonight. That could upset my hot take. Gonzaga started 3-12 but just got off of a sweep of San Francisco. That same San Francisco team beat Wazzu midweek 14-8 between the Oregon State and Oregon series. Maybe both Gonzaga and Wazzu have each turned a different corner?

Who knows. but until the Beavs beat anyone of any strength it feels like if you're willing to put $$ down, you have to go against them at this time. They're just not SCARING ANYONE and certainly not the Pilots. Would be nice to see a turnaround though before this season is officially a dumpster fire. Maybe they need to put on their big boy pants!!

Lattery Starting. Turley on the pines. Weber catching If Lattery is our midweek starter now it explains why he was held out against Stanford. Also probably means Larson is in the bullpen now

Also probably means Larson is in the bullpen now If Lattery does well, he should be the #1 option to sneak into the weekend rotation. Larson at a 1.96 Whip and 8.22 ERA might be behind a few young quality arms in the bullpen, that have done well to date.
