Parity? There’s still no parity in the women’s game. Unless, Miami pulls the upset, your still going to have all upper seeds in the final 4. Still a huge difference from past years. First time two No. 1 seeds didn’t make the Sweet 16. Of course nowhere near the men’s side, but improving IMO. Every year you would just pencil in UCONN. Also now Utah and Colorado are now the big guns in the pac so yes it is not the same

Ohio State with uck escapee Taylor Mikesell is doing a number on UCONN, 36-26 at the half. Their pressing defense is legit, all it was hyped up to be. It gives me joy to see UCONN down at this point. Not what they use to be with all the parity. Down - and out. Geno just turned 69 a couple days ago. Wonder how many more years he intends to coach?

Maybe you should call Stanford and let them know. So you think finishing in 11th in the Pac-12 is acceptable for OSU? Because if it is not more parity then you are basically indicating that the program sucks for other reasons by your definition. So what is it poor coaching, poor recruiting or something else? You just come over all season long and say the team is under performing but you never say why? Let hear your analysis ohh great one.

He may be younger than Tara. At what point does a recruit think they will have the same coach their senior year?

Why are you changing the subject? Where OSU finishes in league has Jack s%#t to do with parity in the NCAA tournament.

You can't answer the question as to why it is parity because if you did you could no longer trash the team anymore. There is more parity everywhere.

Just because UCONN is not there doesn’t mean there’s parity. The top seeds are still going to be in the top 8. And, why would I need to trash a team that finished 11 in the league. They’ve already proved that point. I got lambasted for saying this was a 6-10 place team in the league and they finished 11th. I guess they exceeded my expectations.

Why 11th?

I concur it’s a long ways from the mens game parity. But it’s probably similar to the men’s game parity before the one-and-done era. We probably won’t getting there with women until professional women’s basketball is lucrative enough for many to also leave early.

A look at the teams that played in the Sweet 16 leaves the notion that there's an upswing in parity in NCAA women's hoops as kind of inconclusive. One one hand, you have seven programs that you could consider historically elite: Louisville, Notre Dame, Maryland, South Carolina, UConn, LSU and Tennessee. Iowa, Ohio State and UCLA are outside that group but still very good. So you're left with six programs. Ole Miss has been in the tourney 18 times with four Sweet 16 appearances and three regional finals and one Elite 8. Colorado had five Sweet 16 appearances and two Elite 8s. Utah hadn't done much before this season. Nor had Villanova. Those four teams are now out. So we're left with 9th seeded Miami and Virginia Tech in the Elite 8. The Hokies are really the anomaly here. They don't have much to point to in the NCAA Tournament except one Sweet 16 in 1999. But they are 30-4 and a No. 1 seed. Does the sudden success of that one program point to parity?

A good chunk of the apparent lack of parity in WBB is due to the regional host format. There are far fewer upsets in the first two rounds in WBB.
I think we can all agree on two points: 1. There is more parity in MBB than WBB. Credit 1-and-done and the greater resources invested in MBB at the mid-major level. 2. There is more parity today in WBB than ever before. Credit the increased visibility of WBB.
But is there more parity in MBB than in WBB? Maybe, but to prove it requires more than just a comparison of the two tournaments. That's extrapolating from a very non-random set of 67 games the distribution of strengths of 300+ teams.
There's a simple chart that some computer geek needs to make for us. Take the EOY computer rankings for successive years. For each team plot their ranking, last year on the X-axis, this year on the Y-axis. (For best results, repeat the process over several successive years.) If there was no parity, then the result would be a perfect straight line. If there was perfect parity, it would be a cloud of random dots. You might find multiple clouds - maybe there are barriers between levels that are hard to cross. Maybe there is parity below a certain level but little parity at the top.
Bah. What I am thinking? To imagine settling an internet debate with meaningful data. It'll never happen.

Down - and out. Geno just turned 69 a couple days ago. Wonder how many more years he intends to coach? He may be younger than Tara. At what point does a recruit think they will have the same coach their senior year? Tara grew up in Niagara Falls and graduated from Buffalo Seminary (a private, high-end girls school, like St. Mary's Academy) in 1971. So she should be turning 70 in the 2023 calendar year.

another WNIT note , sneaking in here... UW just beat U of zero 63 - 59 in the round of 8. I'm still smiling, now we wait for the likely exodus from down south.

Oh, and Miami is playing LSU , behind at the half ,20-26 , haven't noticed Mulkey so she must have toned it down today, hah ,if that's possible.
