I think the Choi-Walton comparison was totally based on health. Bill was a beast. 21-22 versus Memphis. One of the greatest passing big men in the game’s history. And still not even close to decent comparison. What has Chol done in college? In what atmosphere is Walton's health in college any where near a guy who basically has not even played 300 total minutes in a 3 year college career? I believe Walton played in 87 or his 90 college games... all 3 missed in his senior years when he fractured two vertebrae after being undercut by a WSU player. And, he still came thru wearing a back brace. That doesn't count the 20/20 games he played on the Frosh team. Chol has played minimal minutes in 39 college games over 3 seasons. The comparison in crazy... let alone speculating he'd made some significant difference this past season. The defense wasn't the issue and he is certainly no help on offense averaging 1.5 pts/game on 37% shooting in his career. Oh... and averaged 0.7 blks/g over that "career". "Come on Man"

"Come on Man" Bill was elite when healthy and had a passion for the game. Loved the Trail Blazers teams in the mid 1970’s before he got hurt the year after the title run starting 50-10. Real happy he got another title with Boston in the mid 1980’s.

If you were around 21 years old in 1973 you should have a clue on how good of a player Bill Walton was. I don't believe a healthy Chol Marial sniffs the NBAIf Chol Marial stays healthy, it would be hard not to. Around 8% of men between 20 and 40 of his height play basketball in the NBA, and Chol is better than most in that age range. If he puts together a healthy season, he gets a look at the NBA someway and somehow. You can teach speed, but you can't teach height. Even if Chol never plays, it was worth the risk just to bring him in and hope that he stays healthy. He might even be worth a late second round pick in the NBA, if he graduates and still is not healthy. Bol Bol was picked 44th and played how many games in college?

Bol Bol was the #4 ranked HS player in his class and has a helluva lot more skills than Chol could dream of. Bol Bol averaged 9 pts and 6 rebounds in the NBA this year. Chol is not capable of getting close to that. Chol has no shot at an NBA career.

I think KK is 2" less than Marial but Kelly can play. You can verify for me but I think he was in one training camp with, in practicality, no shot at making a team.

You can add Chol's college averages and not reach a player of NBA worth, let alone Bol's NBA #s. Again..."come on man!" This has to be the tiniest of mole hills to "die" on.

I think he was ranked higher than that before his senior year, but I also believe a large amount of "projected" development was cooked into his recruiting rankings. Due to injuries, physical growth or whatever, it hasn't panned out. Bol was/is a much more finished project. It's getting to be where 7 footers that move well, which Chol hasn't been thus far in his college career, are quite a bit more common than they used to be. I wouldn't hold my breath for a big turnaround to where people are talking NBA potential, but if he can get healthy he can still contribute to the team.

Kylor Kelley (with two e's) finished the season starting for the Raptors 905 team. Unfortunately, the Bulls eliminated the Raptors. Kelley was basically an injury away from playing in the NBA and will have a shot at playing his way onto the roster in the offseason after one season in London.

Someone needs to put together a post, maybe called "Beaver Hoopsters in the Pros." It would be similar to the baseball board posts. Then I could keep track of Tinkle, Thompson I, Thompson II, Kelley, and others. I think GPII is with Golden State but not sure if he's still hurt. Did Eubanks finish the year with the Blazers? Do any of the Roberto Nelson, Devon Collier era guys still make a living playing basketball? Random thoughts: Alatishe? Brandt? Duvivier? Schaftenaar (or brother)? Rokocevik? J.McLaughlin? Silva? I'd even be curious to know where some of the women play - there are a lot of leagues outside the USA. When you say 905 team, is that the NBA team? Or is that a minor league team?

He was 3 injuries away from sitting on the bench and not playing for an NBA team.

I'd even be curious to know where some of the women play - there are a lot of leagues outside the USA. When you say 905 team, is that the NBA team? Or is that a minor league team? I had the thread last year, but no one else ever posted, so I stopped. The 905 team is the NBA G League team. The Spurs originally signed Kelley out of Denmark (after his first season in London) at the end of last year and the Raptors somehow acquired Kelley from the Spurs. Stevie played in Israel in the European Champions League Regular Season for Bnei Herzliya. Bnei Herzliya is having an ok season with four more regular season games left to play. Ethan is starting for the Windy City Bulls. GPII played against the Kings in game one of the Warriors' series. Eubanks played in 78 of the first 80 games, starting 28 including game 80. Eubanks got hurt in game 80 and missed the last two games. Roberto Nelson, to my knowledge, has not played basketball since 2019. Devon Collier starts for the Capitanes de Arecibo in Puerto Rico, having played there since 2018. Warithe Alatishe is basically the eighth man for the Ontario Clippers. Angus Brandt is doing his damnedest to carry the Kagawa Five Arrows. He just had a 20-point ballgame the other night, and his team lost by more than 30. Kagawa is one game above Tokyo for the cellar in Japan's B2 league. Malcolm Duvivier is playing in France. Roeland Schaftenaar plays for ZZ Leiden, which just won the Dutch Cup a little more than a month ago. Leiden qualified to play in the Elite Gold Cup with Belgium. Leiden is currently in fifth with at least three games left to play. Olaf is playing for Donar. Donar is a point behind Leiden in the Elite Gold Cup with at least three more to play. Gligorije Rakocevic plays at Harem Spor in Turkey. Roman Silva is playing basketball in Mexico.
