Good research there Wilky! I was at that game too. Not that I would've remembered anyway, but when all those bench clearing changes were made after the seventh, we already led 13-1, and I had exited Surprise Stadium for the friendly confines of the tailgater. Tonight's changes seemed a bit more interesting in what was a one run game at the time. But hey, Beavs win so ale's well! Good Life Sweet As during, and Pliny for the Win! Didn't like that one? Ok, May 26, 2017. Abilene Christian @ Oregon State. Jake Thompson had his worst pre-Omaha start, spotting Abilene Christian a 4-0 lead. Britton and Eisert (mostly Eisert) came in to hold Abilene Christian scoreless over the final six innings. Larnach narrowed the score to 4-3 in the sixth on a two-out homer to left center to drive in Malone and Rutschman. Oregon State left a runner on third in consecutive innings to set up the ninth. The infield to start the ninth was: 1B Taylor 2B Madrigal 3B Gretler SS Grenier
Kwan pinch hit for Grenier and drew a one-out walk. Kwan was subbed out for Andy Atwood, who ran. Madrigal struck out, but Anderson drew a walk. Gretler walked to load 'em up. Cary then subbed in for Taylor to work a seven-pitch walk to tie the game. Rutschman hit it hard to left, but the leftfielder caught it to end the inning.
To start the tenth, the infield was:
1B Gretler 2B Armstrong 3B Atwood SS Madrigal
In the 11th, Atwood singled, Madrigal bunted him over, and Anderson hit a ball into left to drive in Atwood in for a walk-off 5-4 win.
