Mercifully, the season is over. Senior night would have had potentially Simmons, Aquino, Morris and or Jones and Brown without a Covid year - nary a one of them on the roster. Instead, excluding Mic was a 1-year transfer and a converted walk-on. And I don't think any of those players help this team be much better; recruiting misses have really hurt. Hopefully the sins of those classes are finally past us. We’ll never know how good/effective Aquino could have been. Yes, her recruitment was ultimately a “bust” but no one could have known that when she was recruited. And BTW, who is “Mic”? Even if Aquino is great, where are the guards? The only guard in those classes decided basketball wasn’t her sport.

Huh, you mean Sherrod going 3/12 was really helpful to Colorado? Or maybe Formann and Vonleh, with combined 31 points, had more effect on the game? Are you going to claim they are really quick? I'll take the ability to make the shots over speed thank you. I've already gone round and round with you on this. You don't sound smart piushing this quickness makes no difference nonsense. No coach agrees with you. No coach? How about the one recruiting all of these "slow" players you complain about? Do you need some basic speed, sure, but this insistence on it's being all important? Sherrod is probably the quickest player in the Pac-12 since Ari, and she went 3/12 in shooting and Bendu went 4/11 and people were commenting on badly Bendu was hurting the team with her shooting. And despite the commentators going on and on about Sherrod's defense Bendu got the same number of steals, 2. And Bendu got 6 assists to Sherrod's 2, and yet I'd say Sherrod is much faster than Bendu. Beav's lost the game because Vonleh had a better game shooting than Beers, because Sherrod got 7 rebounds and Bendu only got 1, and because offensively the team stopped moving in the 3rd quarter. And because the refs decided the Buffs style of grabby defense was AOK.

This year's team actually wasn't that far off mainly because Yeaney covered for a lot speed-wise in the backcourt. Marotte is pretty quick and Mannen is decently quick. Beers can move, but the Beavers are average to below average at every other spot and Mit is definitely on the slow side. For the most part I don't disagree with your evaluation as far as why the Beavers lost. But you say stuff like Sherrod was 3-12 as if she didn't have a huge effect on the game because she didn't shoot well. But she had a big impact. She had seven rebounds, two assists and two steals, was on Yeaney like a glove and caused all sorts of havoc with pressure. Speed and quickness can make a big difference in every aspect of a game. And yeah, even Rueck knows it.

Next season Coach won't be able to play players who have graduated. That in itself will be a huge uplift for this team. Now it is time to shift our eyeballs to the OSAA 6A playoffs and watch our 2 guard recruits. I believe between these 2 and Martha we will have much better PG play. The Colorado game demonstrated why we need a TRUE PG. Bendu did a great job, but as I've said before, had we been playing with Aleah Goodman at PG, this team's season would not be over. I'm assuming Mit is not coming back and that means we need a couple of players in the portal (with eligibility): Another BIG, and, a TRUE PG. No more trying to make a non-PG into a PG. Love our WBB Team. Hope springs eternal. GO BEAVS!

No but I hope she don’t come back next year. She went through senior day festivities and said she is moving on and done with college basketball. Pay attention.

Bindu took one shot the entire second-half, so apparently the coaching staff reigned that in. But the damage was done, and we never got fully back in sync. So yea, Sharrod shooting 25% certainly isn't the whole story. She also drew 4 shooting fouls simply because we couldn't stay in front of her in the open floor. Whomever Sharrod was guarding turned into an awful shooter, which was Blacklock late in the game where she forced up some impossible 3s out of necessary desperation. Also, her 2 steals doesn't tell he story - anybody she guarded was totally out of sorts. At one point, she had Blacklock dribbling and facing Colorado's basket at midcoast because she was so uneasy dribbling anywhere near Sharrod. Any offense completely stalls at that point.

I'd bet most of the Beavs have gouges on their arms and hands today. They got away with murder on defense. I think what happens is the refs get lulled to sleep in a way because there is just too much slapping and pushing that they can't possibly call it all, so they let them play! This is a VERY young team, they will make believers out of us next year I'm willing toi bet. Do you think any of the other PAC programs are looking forward to playing these ladies next year? Don't think so..

You're correct, Sherrod causes a lot of mayhem, and she gets away with LOTS of fouls. I'd prefer to let her take shots more than defend her tightly., she is NOT a great shooter as evidenced by the number of absolute bricks she throws up. You could see the strategy of the buff coach in the mugging going on with Reagan in the paint. Miller practically had her in a hammer lock, and only then did it get called!

I’ve figured it out! It’s a twisted psychological thing with Rueck and Mannen. You see, SR never got his break in basketball because he’s too short. He loved the game and all he could do was play defense because of his extreme height disadvantage. So, along come Mannen, a female version of himself. He’s rewriting his own basketball story by playing a short girl that has no business being on the floor most of the game and CERTAINLY NOT when we need to come back when the game is under a minute. It’s all part of his short man complex. He’s a complicated dude! Thanks Sigmund. Or is it Carl?

Man, I hope Blacklock and TVO can play together and have chemistry I worry TVO is difficult to have chemistry with We had absolutely no problem with her "chemistry" in 2021, when she was playing her proper position as a #2 guard, while Goodman handled the ball. Anyone playing injured, and not playing their natural position, would struggle.

Man, I hope Blacklock and TVO can play together and have chemistry I worry TVO is difficult to have chemistry with I wouldn't say TVO is difficult to have chemistry with but I do think she tends to play better with the ball in her hands and I think she was not comfortable without it as much this season (which was compounded by her injury). I bring up Blacklock because I see them as relatively similar players. We saw Blacklock kind of blossom the last few games, mostly without TVO on the court. I'm just wondering how well they will be able to play together for what should be big minutes every game...

He was a very good shooter.....just needed a little more space to get his shot off.

Don't think so.. The last two games we saw two opponents with better overall team quickness than OSU go to very aggressive defenses to stall the Beavers. That often includes more physical play overall. Reaching, grabbing, pulling, slapping at the ball. It tends to happen inside as well. The difference was the officials in the Colorado game did not call the Buffaloes for much of anything and continued to call OSU for "normal" stuff. And Beers gets nothing. Very one-sided for whatever reason and you could tell the announcers knew that there was a noticeable discrepancy. That discrepancy caused a significant advantage in points at the free-throw line for Colorado. So yeah, the officials definitely had an effect on the outcome. It does happen. But whatever. If the Beavers were able to handle defensive pressure better, they probably would not have been in that situation.
