I’m not exactly sure what the expectation is this year? People need to ease up a bit. We are a team that lost the potential of having two seniors and a sixth year Grad player. A roster that had players who have been in the system with experience. Instead, we have a roster with seven new players….five freshmen and two transfer players. Our most experienced player is a sophomore! And fans expect us to compete for the NCAA tournament?? The future is very bright. This team did not reload….its rebuilding. I agree Bob. You have as much insight into osu WBB over all the other members of this board. I respect your opinion because your knowledge of the program is fact based. You have great connections. The key is to keep the key pieces together and build from there. If Scott does that, the future is bright.

There are many programs that have taken significant "dips": Mississippi State, Louisville, Tennessee, Notre Dame. Having been a follower of this team since 1994, what I see as a major difference in the fan base is the level of expectation...and unfortunately, its use and misuse of social media. Non-existent during the Hill and Spoelstra years, fans were left to complaining about the outcomes face to face, after games. Now, we can criticize under the veil of anonymity. This program has been through a lot over the last two decades. My job as a fan of women's basketball is to support them no matter what; regardless of outcome. The losses to UW, WSU, Colorado and Cal suck, but the wins against UCLA and "them" were epic as was the "loss" to Stanford on the farm. I guess it depends on how you look at things. Now if we could just get someone to make a collage of our Pac-12 refs and laminate it to a dartboard, I could retire!

A lot of fans are not able to see that. I always hold out hope, but I don't know how fans could look at this team with only 4 returning players, one of them a walk on (former) one a sophomore who never scored 10 points in a Pac12 game, only one a full time starter, and none of them upperclassmen, and expect somehow they were going to finish in the top half of the Pac. What they've proven, is that they can play with anyone in the Pac12, and they can lose to anyone in the Pac12....but there is every reason to have hope for a much better future.

I think most fans realized that the team was going to be young, however the expectations were still relatively high because the Beavers had two McDonald's All-Americans joining the team, along with TVO returning. I think there was the thinking that adding Yeaney and Aaron would be a big boost as well. They were to bring more athleticism and some experience, although from different programs. But as we now know, Yeaney hasn't totally worked out at point guard and the Beavers continue to be lacking in that area. Add Gardiner's injury, TVO's struggles and Aaron's just kind of middle of the road play and there you go. It was just a matter of more things not working out than falling in place.

It was just a matter of more things not working out than falling in place. And here I thought that was only happening to me (grin)!
