Biggest jump suggests they struggled last year, so good choices would be McDowell and Boisvert, both of whom have shown potential but not the full deal.
We’ll have a good year if all the returning class has taken a step forward.

Kasper makes a big move. Wheeler if healthy should contribute. Thomas Dukart never gets the Platinum Sombrero again….that was painful to watch.

It needs to be Dernedde.
In Summer 2021 (WCL), he hit .129 / at OSU 2022 he hit .216. Those two combined: 51 for 261, with only 10 extra base hits. And, (ugh), 86 SO and 42 BB.
If that doesn't improve, hopefully a young gun can step in.

Last year it was Trosky who is good but not overwhelming. This year Macias and Kennel will be right on his back. I'm pretty happy Kyle is back considering the Trosky injury.

I'm thinking traditional Beav Friday night starter, shut down guy. Conner, Luke, Andrew....very well could be in the hunt for national pitcher of year. Maybe Ferrer will be a starter in 2023 (?)...maybe even a Friday night guy...that'd be great. I'm hoping that Kmatz will grow effectively into that role this season. Kmatz has a true starters mentality - and I think he is one of the better out-of-area players that Beavs have recruited in the past couple years (considering that both AZ schools are much closer to his 'neighborhood'). Needs to cut down on HR balls....(I'm betting he will). Ferrer was a starting pitcher in his last pre-OSU college season (D-1, 2021 University of South Carolina Upstate). With USC Upstate in 2021 he appeared in 8 games, with 7 starts. Since then, in 33 appearances (summer 2021 WCL and OSU 2022), Ferrer's only started twice. At any rate Ferrer is a huge KEY to the Beavs 2023 season. I'm really glad he's on the OSU staff instead of pitching for the Tri-City Dust Devils, etc. this season.. Ferrer threw more innings on Friday night last year than anyone else we have on the roster. If he dominated in innings 6,7 etc there's a chance he can do it in innings 1,2,3....

Canham did say something about how valuable it is having a guy like Ferrer in the pen.....a guy who can close it out, or go multiple innings late. I'm sure there is plenty of of discussion with the coaching staff on how best to use Ferrer's skill set. I'm betting it depends on how our starters are looking. If say Kmatz/Hunter/Lattery/Lawson are looking like they could be weekend starters, maybe you keep Ferrer in the pen. I think that would be best case scenario......I like the throught of Ferrer/Mundt/Brown as our key pen guys.....maybe Quinn too if he has command.

Some numbers to consider from fall ball.. Thank you for posting this. Very interesting numbers. I don't follow fall ball--getting info is pretty challenging--so I'm curious why there's no mention of Donkey or some of the other players from last year. Do you know?

Having Sellers play a big role would be big... but he is also a Senior transfer so hopefully we saw enough in him to justify the transfer this late in his playing career.
