If I had to pick an opening day lineup, I actually pretty much agree with this one, though I wouldn't have McDowell in there. Had a nice summer, but I'm not that hopeful. I expect Talt to break into the lineup relatively quickly, maybe even the primary backup catcher from day one. Reeder should be in the mix too.

Article was apparently before the Townsend news: from Article: " beyond Kmatz, it’s a wide-open competition heading into the first full week of practice. The list of contenders includes: Lawson, Jaren Hunter, transfer Trent Sellers, Keljo, Victor Quinn, Brock Townsend and Rhett Larson. Also, Ferrer — the most important OSU pitcher not named Hjerpe last year — could emerge as a starter or perhaps fill a part-time starting role depending on the situation." If (3 out of 4) Kmatz, Hunter, Lattery, Sellers - stay healthy I think the weekend will be fine. And that's not even calling on Ferrer, Quinn, Keljo or Larson to step up as possible weekend starter. I think Wilson Weber will also be in the hunt as primary back-up catcher. He has some real good tools both offensively and on defense. |

Yeah, ricke, good point on Weber. Solid swing, good defensive catcher. Nothing against him, more that I really, really like Talt and I feel like he needs to be on the field.
Lots of great options though, nice to have.
