all shoot under 40% from the field.
IMO, that’s one of, if not the, biggest problems this year.

You are totally right, and especially 3pt shooting. This was not a good year for Talia's 3pt shooting to be down, and the young players who can likely shoot (Lily and Adlee, perhaps Martha) aren't quite ready. When you go with Mannen who isn't offensively talented enough to score much, and Bendu who has never been an efficient shooter you need someone else who can score and pop the 3's. It's a shame, because just one more wing (or point) who was a scoring threat would have made all the difference for this season's team. It also wasn't a good year to have your only true player at the 4 be out most of the year. Not sure if SR just couldn't find another big in the portal, or thought the front court would be fine with Timea, Raegan, and Jelena, but it definitely hurt.

3pt shooting has definitely been a huge issue all year. TVO has proven she is a 3 pt threat, even in a slump, but I just haven’t seen any consistency from any of the guards all year. Lily, Adlee, Lex, and AJ just seem to be struggling overall, but in my opinion AJ’s ability to drive and pull up for a mid-range jumper makes her the biggest offensive threat of the group so far. The others must have the time to get their feet set for sure, but even then, just can’t seem hit the 3 consistent enough! Maybe it will come with more playing time and experience — Adlee showed last night she has a pretty quick release and did hit a couple!
What is also worrisome for me is on the D-side of the ball! Other than Bendu, none of our guards seem to be able to cover PAC-12 caliber guards man-to-man and effectively and consistently move quick enough to get in front of them and cut them off on a drive, which means always getting help from someone else, and thus leaving someone open for a shot! Over the year, I have seen the team getting much better at switching to try make up for it, but still is a struggle overall! I love the passion the whole group plays with no doubt, and the effort and communication seems to be there and we have improved, but at this level it is really hard to compensate for lack of quickness. Maybe more time in defensive system will help for some, but seems we really need to add some quickness and speed in next recruiting class and portal!
Team is young, character and work ethic is there, so with coaching they will keep improving for sure. For 3 quarters team played pretty darn good once again against a top 10 team, now just need to put together 40 minutes! And we need to shoot 30-40% from 3 to be able to compete and to better free up the inside game!! Beat Colorado, Go Beavs!

Drives weren't a problem. OSU kept the Utes to 36% from the two, the lowest shooting percentage they've had this season. The problem was switches were OSU didn't communicate well and someone was left open at the three.

Sometimes it’s just about being able to put the ball in the basket. We miss a lot of open shots. There is not a go to perimeter shooter on this team…yet. This allows teams to sag and plug up the middle for our bigs. Until that player emerges or is recruited, we will have a hard time scoring which makes it tough to win games. I’ve yet to see a perimeter player on this team who shoots with confidence, or seems to have a scorers mentality from the arc. You don’t win much in the modern game if you can’t hit the three and spread the defense out. Oh to have a Kat Tudor or Sydney Weise again!
