There's been a downward trend but not for 9 years. Not even close. That was two seasons (both NCAA Tournament seasons) leading into the Final Four season. And I don't think that leveling out and making the Sweet 16 was a huge downward trend. At the most, it started around the 2017-18 season, which ended with one and done in the NCAAs with a blowout loss to Western Kentucky. The next year was sort of smoke and mirrors with wins against Boise State and Gonzaga (both good teams but teams that Oregon State could match as far as speed and quickness). Then came Louisville, who ran the Beavers off the court. Then came the 10-8 Pac-12 season and canceled NCAA tourney due to COVID and it's been a much more significant drop off from there. ’17-18 was Gulich’s senior season, and the Beavs lost to Louisville in the Elite Eight. They blew out Western Kentucky on the road to get there, along with beating Tennessee and Baylor. Hardly one and done. Yeah, I totally botched that. I was wondering why I didn't remember them losing to Western Kentucky in a blowout. I was looking at the media guide online and the info carries over to the other row, which threw me off. Ugh. My overall point stands, though. And they did lose to Louisville in the NCAA Tournament both seasons.

The downward trend is based on pac12 finishes. If it makes you feel better lets start with the 16-17 year which was 1st, then 3rd, 3rd, 5th, 5th, 8th, this year right now 10th.
I had used the 14-15 as the start because it was the first of three in a row of first place finishes.

We didn't have the first part of the season to jell the best offensive players together in a good passing game.

My concern is SR is building an outdated team based on heavy post usage, iso, and slow pace. If the core is going to be Reagan, Timea, Talia as good as they are, that style of play will struggle to put up the offensive numbers needed to make a good run in conference or in the post season.

Pace: Oregon State: 71.1 (54%) South Carolina: 70.3 (46%) Stanford: 69.0 (29%) Our pace is not the issue. Our inability to hit shots from three and defend at a high level is.

The top 4 posts in the country, Brinks, Boston, Reese and Edwards play for those top four teams. And you think being post centric is old fashioned or something??
