Trosky though? That's a shocker. Hunter Cope. Logan Miller.
I think that's it, no more cuts, I believe we have the maximum 5 covid year slots, due to transfers.

So, Isaac Hill, Noah Ferguson and Tyree Reed are injured.
Brock Townsend, Hunter Cope, Jabin Trosky, Logan Miller. That's it.
Well, somebody had to get cut. I'm staggered that Trosky is gone, unless he's hurt too?

I like the way that he handles his middle infield position, on the other hand his offense has not caught up to college pitching. I grimmanced through the summer of 2022 (WCL) as Jabin, in 88 AB, batted .157 with an .330 OPS with only 1 extra base hit. Based on performance to date, there are several middle infielders (led by Bazzana, obviously) who would likely see playing time ahead of Trosky. |

Sellers enrolled at WSU in 2019 - he gets a Covid year, pushing the roster limit to 40.
A quick glance shows 8 players that appeared on that 47 man roster are missing now on the official site roster - Trosky, Reed, Cope, Larsen, Townsend, Hill, Logan and Ferguson.
We know at least 3 of those players are injured and there might be more. We also know that sometimes players don't appear on the roster but are in school and continuing to work out. Greg Fuchs and Wade Meckler both went that route.
Some of the current questions will be answered by the conclusion of the Surprise trip.

If there is a Townsend 'story' it's slipped my mind (that happens to me alot these years). What's up? Last season he was 5th amongst pitchers in innings pitched. His most positive stat was 36 SO with only 7 BB. Most negative was .309 BAA. |

Regarding Brock, out of high school he went the JC route. Then came to OSU... I haven't heard mention of an injury but it might be a situation where he was simply beat out by the new guys? Time will tell. For all of us who have watched him, you could say he pitched to contact and let his defense play. My observation is his fastball was not over powering, his breaking stuff was ok and he was hit hard... often. He could usually make it through the line up once but as the statistics you shared suggests he didn't walk people but the opponent's batting average was higher than you would want. We will all have to wait and listen for more info. Usually once the home games get started we can hear the rumor mill from other fans... so be patient and we will get some rumors that may or may not be accurate or complete  |
