This game was won because of the play of our front court. Definitely the best game Mit has ever played for OSU. She was aggressive and didn't hesitate around the hoop on offense. There was one offensive moment when Mit got called for 3 seconds and Mit lit into Bendu for not passing her the ball when she was free in the key. I was so happy to see that Mit wanted the ball and gave Bendu the business for holding the ball and not passing it to Mit.
All I can say about Timea is she is a warrior. Great motor and no fear. It was her 3rd college game and she looked as if she had played a couple seasons already. Timea and Mit played so well together that Beers was on the bench much of Q4.
And because our BIGS played so well, TvO didn't have to force the play tonight.
Even the coaches stepped up tonight. Rueck's timeouts were timely.
Great win, and finally Gill was rocking. Fun atmosphere and hopefully an important turning point for this team.

The screen by Jelena at the start of the 4th was hilarious. That duck player went flying, and Jelena didn't even budge.

Gill was on fire last night - thanks for all who made it rockin'.
The play by Jelena was great. I think we can get a glimpse as to why in her post game interview with Ron.
And it takes a team to win this game - Talia shares the spotlight.
OK and the Ally-oop to AJ was so freaking cool!

Great win (all wins over them are great). The freshman frontcourt looks very promising moving forward. I still can't believe, though, that we didn't foul up 3. Made no sense.

I like the foul up 3 as well, but I’m sure coach was worried about fouling a shooter in the act there. Great game by Jelena, however especially in a no 3s situation defensively I’d rather go small and by Gardiner at the 5. Really gutty team win. Go Beavs. |

That was exciting. Timea looks the part already Timea certainly lives up to her pre-season ranking. Third college game ever, 23 minutes ZERO turnovers. Rueck had her in at game end, in a close game, against a ranked opponent - that itself speaks volumes. |

It's not gonna happen again....Happy? Yes. I'm happy. Don't act like very similar situations didn't happen and result in losses this season. My comment was not without merit. Well, at the half, IIRC, we had shot 1 ft, maybe the 1st qtr? Beers continues to be mugged when she has the ball and mostly gets ignored by the refs. She should have shot at least 6 or 8 more fts.. it will take another 4 or 5 games for TG to get her MOJO back and for the others to feel comfortable with her game too. But at the PAC12 tourney, I hope EVERYONE I living in fear of playing the Beavs to stay alive. Who knows, with this season playing out, maybe it's one step ahead, 2 steps back!! |

Couple of thoughts on the game. Rueck made a good call playing mitrovic more then beers last nite. Ducks are really tall in front court and we matched up better with our tallest big got the most minutes. This was a game that really advertised the best freshman in pack 12.vanslooten and Grace Beers and Gardiner.
I'm hoping some more of our freshman will get a chance to get more play time. One thing good or bad is Rueck plays kids based on experience and uses a 4 or five year plan to keep the younger ones satisfied. That may have ramifications based on the portal.Arizona and ducks USC
sometimes can clean house due to the portal.

Watching the replay, a great play at 0:45 in 3Q. Jelena calls the play standing at the top of the key, Talia between the circles with the ball. TVO passes to Jelena who holds the ball high while setting a screen for Talia who scrapes her defender as Jelena pivots 180 and finds Talia free at the rim for the layin. Well-executed.
