That would be great to add a second deck behind the plate, but what would be the cost? 20 million? 25? 30? Could osu raise this kind of money for baseball? Football is different. Osu draws 3-5k for a game. Football 30+. Apples to oranges. I think the bowl of Gill Coliseum is next, and that won't be cheap. Not sure where you heard that, but that's not happening. I thought I heard/read Scott Barnes say something of this nature. I know he has talked about doing something with the bowl of Gill Coliseum. I know the playing surface at Reser is on the agenda too. What is next on the agenda after the hitting facility?

Would it be possible to add a second deck to the grand stand around home plate? Up seems to be the only direction that makes sense to add seating where it matters. That would be great to add a second deck behind the plate, but what would be the cost? 20 million? 25? 30? Could osu raise this kind of money for baseball? Football is different. Between 2016 and 2018, Oregon State added a new sound system, replaced the seats in the lower bowl, renovated the front lobby and first floor bathrooms, renovated the locker room, and added the video board. And that is all already paid for, as far as I can tell. I haven't heard anything about another Gill Coliseum upgrade anytime soon. Football and baseball seem to be more of a priority right now.

Right now the projects are: Reser Softball Video Board Track grandstands Hitting facility (expansion of Goss is being tossed around) They will be asking season ticket holders what they are looking for with an expansion after this season.

Reser and football needs to be priority one...really glad to see the West side finally finished soon. Of course, keeping osu baseball relevant is second on my priority list.

With the Reser project almost finished and the hitting facility funded I’ve heard the outfield project at Goss has moved up in the batting order. After talking to a number of players a designated weight room is something the team wants they’re tired of sharing with football.

Not sure what a 6.5 million dollar hitting facility looks like in that small of a footprint. I'd think we would be more than half way to a baseball version of top-golf for that kind of money.

LSU new hitting facilityThis is what LSU got for around 2 million a couple years ago. I'm sure new construction is a big portion of our upcoming cost, but it's still going to be very nice.

The turf at Goss is going to be replaced soon as well.
I believe a weight room will be included in the hitting facility.
Barnes has also spoken of a softball/soccer/T&F locker room complex over near their stadiums, which would be wonderfully convenient for all three programs.

Isn't the new road that runs parallel to the railroad tracks going to wipe out the parking lot in centerfield? I thought I had read that the Washington way project would change that whole stretch.

No, just some of the spots. A totally unnecessary project, given how few trains go through campus these days. Except for the stretch between 35th and 30th, which does need an upgrade, WW works just fine. But apparently the railroad gets what the railroad wants, thanks to right-of-way laws dating back to the 19th century when the government had to sweeten the pot to get the necessary private investment to build them in the first place.

That locker room complex would be a big boost for all four teams down there. The track grandstands were supposed to be almost finished by this point but supply chain issues have delayed construction and the PAC-12 meet for next spring got moved.

I'm not sure of the plans or the extent of renovations but Scott Barnes clearly stated that Gill was the next renovation project. I would be curious to find out what new concepts can be brought since the visitor football locker room will no longer be utilized. It seems that baseball renovations has always been independent from the Athletic Department. Pat Casey has always been pretty much the sole ambassador for raising funds for Goss. Now that Casey is a "Special Assistant" to Scott Barnes, he has maybe more pull to get money to fund Goss expansion.

I just attended a talk with Scott's right hand man and Gill was not mentioned at all. Just the other projects that I listed. They may be doing something will the old visitor's locker room, but I haven't heard anything that would be directly tied to the arena or seating areas.

We are talking about a pretty major renovation ($35-$40 million dollars) but still down the road. Barnes talked about it during an interview a while back. He talked about moving offices and meeting rooms out of Gill and making room for a better Fan Experience. Maybe a pregame hang out and added premium seating. I used to go to basketball games at Key Arena (Seattle) and they had a nice pregame mixing lounge. I imagine Barnes is thinking along these lines. I don't have a strong attachment to Gill like a lot of Fans do. Sure it is historic but way outdated. I think there is only just so much lipstick you can put on a pig. I wish they could build a new basketball arena. Doesn't need to be fancy, just up to date.
