It's 2023, only 41 days before Surprise Opening Day. Just now came across a summer 2022 article on D-1 BB re: Area Code games. a few pertinent highlights: Here are the teams with the most committed players that are playing in this year’s Area Code Games:
1- Oregon, 12 commits 2- UCLA, 11 3- Arizona State, 9 4- Vanderbilt, 8 5- Oregon State, 7 NF Trent Caraway, Brewers (Oregon State) If there was a Most Valuable Player award for the Area Code Games, the future Beaver could’ve been in a class by himself through the first three games he played. Caraway got on base the first seven times he went to the plate here in San Diego, six of those being base hits. In his first at-bat of the entire week, be blistered a two-run home run off Reds starter Derek Schaeffer. That’s setting a freakin’ tone, no? He got a little cold as the week went on but there’s no doubt that he’ll be a Trevor Larnach-like smash in Corvallis. My apologies if this info has already been posted.

Trent Carraway earned several prestigious awards last summer including All American honors from Rawlings-Perfect Game. Playing with the Canes National 17u team and the New York Mets Scout team in several high profile national tournaments, Trent's plate work was dazzling. He made 77 plate appearances, drawing 14 walks and rapping out 25 base hits in 63 official AB's. He added 16 RBI and 4 SB while posting a .397 BA with a 910 OPS on the tourney circuit while facing the best 17u arms in the country. RPG projects him as the 29th pick in the 3rd round of this summer's MLB Draft.
RHP Zach Swanson from Toutle Lake is another Beaver commit named to RPG's 16u All American Team. Playing for the Canes National 16u team, Zach pitched 15 innings, allowed 3 hits, no runs while walking 5, plunking 1 and striking out 26 with his 94/95 mph gas. His 0.60 WHIP is eye-popping.
Other Beaver recruits projected in this summer's draft are LHP Paul Wilson From Lakeridge who is slotted as the 21st pick in the 4th round, and RHP James DeCremer III from Phoenix, AZ. slotted at the 17th pick in the 9th round.
* If Carraway makes his way to Corvallis next summer, He should be an impact player and early contributor. A polished player with a good glove, rifle arm and electric batting stroke.

A little more on Caraway; TRENT CARAWAY SS / JSERRA HS, CA / 2023 Rankings: CALIFORNIA STATE: #4 / NATIONALLY: #24
"Caraway, an Oregon State recruit, enjoyed plenty of success in the early summer where his toughness at the plate was only outshined by a deep belief in his hands, and firm expectation to succeed in each plate appearance. There is present physicality on his 6-foot-2, 197-pound frame, especially in the lower-half, and he works from the ground up in imparting a heavy barrel on the ball with nearly every swing. Playing in the vaunted Trinity League of Orange County for the prestigious JSerra High School, Caraway should receive significant attention, especially given the strength of the SoCal class. While he has taken a bit of a back seat with regards to some of the more public “buzz” for draft prospects in the state, it would be hardly surprising if he ultimately rose to the top spot, and given the hit/power potential, and especially the hard-nosed look that he presents, it is certainly plausible for first-round draft buzz to be created in the spring."

That is my new worry that Caraway climbs the draft board and never makes it to Corvallis. He is clearly a talented player with huge upside.
Thanks for the updates.

Baseball America ranks Caraway the 8th best high school infield prospect in the '23 MLB Draft.
Comments: No. 8 Trent Caraway, SS/3B, JSerra Catholic HS, San Juan Capistrano, Calif.
"Caraway is a strong and filled-out, offensive-oriented infielder who showed an intriguing combination of impact ability and contact. Sure, there are some moving parts in his swing but there are scouts who view him as one of the better hit/power combinations in the class and it wouldn’t be surprising to hear some scouts in the industry view him as a similar profile to 2022 Blue Jays second-rounder Tucker Toman."
