Crazy game. Also a play to prove that the refs will not ever call roughing the punter unless the defender is wielding an axe!
UCLA defender needed to learn how to tackle on the last Qb run instead of just bumping him. Tackle him and you win. But…

UCLA defender needed to learn how to tackle on the last Qb run instead of just bumping him. Tackle him and you win. But… PI also seemed to be a mystery for the refs too. One not called on UCLA when it seemed obvious (they said not catchable...but that was because of the PI). The other called on UCLA seemed like really good coverage and gave Pitt 1st and goal..
Also didn't realize this was Skip Belly's first bowl game with the 'ruins...UCLA had a losing record in Chip Kelly's first two years, and 2020 was the COVID-19 year. UCLA opted out of a bowl game in 2020 before finishing the season. UCLA was supposed to play in the Holiday Bowl last year but cancelled last second, which is one of the reasons why the Bruins fell to the Sun Bowl this year. |
