This is not a blame Tinkle thread.
I say we end the season with 9 or more wins in conference.

This is not a blame Tinkle thread. I say we end the season with 9 or more wins in conference. They already have 1 win, and they play Cal twice, Stanford twice, WSU once, all teams currently below them in the conference standings. Thats 5 games. Can they find 3-4 more wins if they win those games? Hard to see them getting to 9 but who knows. They have been a fun team to watch so far.

I'm thinking 6-8, but, the 2 transfers coming back is a big deal for our depth. If everyone is healthy and they continue to come together, they've already shown against Duke that they can hang with pretty good teams - at that point it's a mater of shots falling or not - so who knows.

True, they have been good defensively this season. Like you said a matter of making some more shots and not turning the ball over.

Can they find 3-4 more wins if they win those games? Hard to see them getting to 9 but who knows. They have been a fun team to watch so far. How I see the rest of the season going:
@ oregon: If this was at home I'd say a W, oregon doesn't look good right now but we've also been wildly inconsistent. Tinkle has a good record against oregon for the most part and his teams are typically ready for them, but it being on the road makes it tough for me to see as a W. We lose a close one. 1-2
@ Utah/CU: I actually think we steal one of these. Probably against Colorado if we do as they have also been wildly inconsistent this year, some good wins, some bad losses. Split gets us to 2-3.
UA/ASU: Tough. Knowing past WT teams we play Arizona tough, a game we feel like we played better in, but find a way to lose down the stretch (or the UA referee $$$ becomes more obvious... lol) then follow up with a bit of a dud against a supposedly not as good team in ASU. 2-5.
@ Cal/Stanford: Would like to say there's two wins here, but Stanford on the road is always tough. I don't think we sweep the bay both at home and on the road so I'm going to say a split. 3-6.
Utah/CU: Screams split to me. Home games I see us getting one for sure but due to how inconsistent we've seen us play this year I'm going to say we lose one. 4-7.
@ UA/ASU: We never play well down there. Against either team. 4-9.
USC/UCLA: This team being as young as they are I feel like by around end of January/early February things start clicking more and we see a little more consistent play to end the season, hopefully giving us some insight into what next year will look like more. We should've beaten USC earlier this year so I see us winning that one and playing UCLA tough as we tend to match-up better with them than SC teams. A close win and a close loss get us to 5-10 but feeling better about the team.
@ WSU/UW: WSU is not good and I'm not sold on UW being that good either. @ UW is always a tough game for us but I think we either win this one and lose to oregon the next week or lose here and beat oregon. Gonna say we stumble in a close game against UW and go to 6-11.
oregon: Home game, civil war, all the reasons I feel like we could win on Saturday against the ducks on the road stand true here except oregon usually plays better under Altman in late season games, but so do we. Gonna say we pull this one out and get a little momentum started for the last couple games. 7-11.
Cal/Stanford: Home sweep to end the season. Both games I feel like are games we should win, although I don't think Stanford will be a comfortable win. But the sweep gets us to 9-11.
9-11 likely lands us somewhere between a 6-8 seed in the conference tourney and playing a Colorado/Stanford/Utah/oregon/UW in the first round in Vegas. I'll go out on a limb and say we win the first down there and lose in the 2nd round to a team that had a bye (likely playing UCLA/UA in round 2). That would give us a 16-17 overall record with a 9-11 conference record (10-12 if you count the tourney). As much as we want to see more than that this year I would be pretty happy with that end of season result leading into next year. Assuming the team sticks together (which I think we see much more continuity this off-season going into next than most WT teams have), I think that sets us up for good things in 2023/24.
I think you could look at those predictions with orange colored glasses and add a couple more wins (the PAC is down a little this year IMO), but you could also add a couple more losses if things don't come together how I'm thinking they will. If things do go south and we see something along the lines of a 5-15 or 6-14 conference record then I would be more concerned but I still think we would see WT leading the team next season. Hopefully we don't need to have that conversation because I'm not sure this board can handle another discussion about his job status LOL.

Just wanted to get in early with the prediction. ;-) Both are conference win and our conference loss were by 1 point, so I feel that maybe we can reach 9 or 10 wins. It will take a lot of teamwork and good luck (for avoiding injuries and illnesses). Either way, it beats talking about Tinkle.

How about a team we can see potential with that gets better as the season goes forward? Plays together, hard and solid defense. If they stay together, the future looks like a winning one. That is my hope. 12-15 win team this year

12-15 wins….possible. Problem when playing quality bigs, we just don’t have a paint presence. Andela is the one and only, Ryuny and Bilodeau are options but we need help down low. Chol is hurt and it looks like Ibekwe looks like a red shirt.

Ibekwe maybe looks like a red shirt, but he’s already played a second this season so he can’t unless there’s a season ending injury involved soon (football has a different deal with the 4 games allowed). I’m hoping they can get to where they can work both he and Chol in several minutes a game each to take the load off of Andela and Rataj and Bilodeau and hopefully prep all of them for next year after Andela is gone.

I went to the game today ...the first game I've gone to in 5 or so years. Osu started 4 pure frosh. Of the 4, I really like three of them...Bilideau,Pope and Rataj. Their future is very bright. The question is this...can osu keep all three and add a couple vets to compliment them? Today, osu played well against a very athletic ASU team. They had more vets and talented upperclassmen. What I liked was this team played hard...they played for each other...and there was no bickering amongst players and/ or coaches. The play was sloppy at times and unforced turnovers hurt osu in a one possession game with under a minute. Who knows the future of this program...there is some young talent if they stay and can be developed

Missing Wright And Rochelin is not helping them. I’m kind of surprised ASU didn’t press more. Pope is currently the only one that I trust to handle the ball.

Stevens and the other frosh guard have some potential. I just think the other three are ahead of them. Osu needs a big who is athletic. ASU was far more athletic than osu. 10 blocked shots to 0 for osu. Numerous trips to the rim were rejected. Yes,Wright and Rochelin might have helped to break the press. There was 2-3 4/5 point swings when ASU scored and stole the ball and scored. Really cut into the 16 point lead.
