Quite the wacky affair the past 48 hours with this guy ... there was a vid posted where he was making his decision on what school to attend sitting in between his parents and he did the whole hats in front of him thing. He initially picked up a Notre Dame hat and was putting it on and then was like PSYCHE and threw it aside and then put on the Oregon hat and announced he was going to be a Duck. His mom was initially happy and clapping when he said Notre Dame but then seemed visibly upset when he pulled the "hat trick" for Oregon. Anyways his mom and especially his girlfriend (who is an incoming Oklahoma soccer recruit) must have got into his ear and convinced him not to sign to the Ducks and instead the Sooners who were also actively recruiting him (heard Coach Venables really put in the work hard there at the end to convince him too to flip). Here is a tweet that OU soccer put out today and OU football *hearted* of his girlfriend sitting there in a football jersey after his decision was made to flip to the Sooners:

Dumb. College football is doomed at this rate.
The hat thing is stupid. Putting HS kids on tv to do the hat thing is wrong. HS kids getting paid 6 figures before they’ve played a down is ridiculous. Getting paid 6 figures after a year is also ridiculous. It started out with the “players can’t even afford to go out for a pizza.” Now some can start s pizza chain! Ridiculous. And not the original intent. Stupid.

There will be a few schools that will prosper but a lot more won't be able to be competitive. We fit in the latter.

It all reeks of greed and showmanship. How is this good for anyone? It's really teaching these boys the wrong values. Disgusting.

I kinda feel for the guy, making such a major life decision based on something so fleeting as a woman's approval.
Oh well, he'll learn. We all do.

It's funny no doubt, but they were a long, long way from striking out. They lost one player that they didn't expect to get anyway, but got other highly-rated players unexpectedly too. Personally, I would take that strike out any day of the week. Having said that, I'm very happy with the job Coach Smith did, and continues to do.
