He lost his job to a Freshaman no? I'll take my chances on our Sophomore QB and incoming Frosh

Totally agree! Why is he even in any conversation?

When it comes down to it there are way more talented guys available.
Hudson Card (Texas) Grayson McCall (Coastal Carolina) Spencer Sanders (OkayState) Jack Plummer (Purdue, Cal) Brennan Armstrong (UVA) Xavier Ward (WSU commit in 2021 that we recruited pretty hard) Sam Vidlak (Oregon State, Boise State). We seemed to like him before. If he transferred for playing time he might not mind coming back for a bench spot.
Hell I would even take Slovis over Hank after how I saw him respond to pressure. The only guys on that list that I think would be a high likely hood of starting week 1 over BG are Card and Mcall.

I think Armstrong would start over BG no problem, and probably Slovis as well now that you mention him. Some of the others I'm not familiar with.
Agree with everything that's been said about Bachmeier. Heck, I would take Hole's 3rd string guy, Butterfield, over Bachmeier. We recruited him pretty hard out of high school, as did a lot of people. Has disappeared in portal chatter after announcing, probably because he never saw the field. He can definitely throw it.

Cal needs a QB. The former OC from BSU is there now. That would be my guess. Coming to OSU makes zero sense unless he just wants to hold a clipboard.

Vidlak is back in the portal? I'm rooting for him as an Oregonian, but I'm not sure I'd want to bring him back as a retread. Fool us once...

Armstrong would probably only come on a guarantee, he's a one and done I'm pretty sure.

They had 6 QB's on the roster this year and 3 have transferred. None in the current recruiting class. Have to assume they are desperate. With a pretty unimpressive 2.58 sacks allowed per game they better be mobile.

Don't want Chiles to get impatient and do a Vidlak on us. I'm famliar with the "entire thread" on Slovis. No way I can tell from any of it that anyone has even watched his film. None of it speaks specifically to his skill set. Most of it speaks to his mercenary character and to disgust with NIL in general. No argument with any of that. I don't want Slovis. But IF HE CAME HERE, his skill set is superior to Ben's. Stronger arm, more touch on deep throws, better pocket awareness, faster at going through progressions, some elusiveness although Ben is faster once he gets going.

The stuff from this year shows a guy who crumples under pressure, is not elusive really at all, and is slow through his progressions. Probably doesn't help since he kicks into new systems all the time but he's not the same guy he was pre-injury at USC. He also tends to throw balls that.he doesn't have the ability to force and gets picked, kinda like chance in that regard. He has a pretty strong arm, good touch and accuracy.

The Pitt coach hammered Slovis for his lack of leadership. No thanks.

Which speaks to his mercenary character. As I tried to explain above, I don't want Slovis to come here. I don't want anybody who has already been to two or three different teams.
