Sean Astin (not Austin) is a hack. He blights every movie that he is in. His best role was probably in Encino Man as the boring one with Brendan Frazier and Pauly Shore, doing what he does best, next to nothing. Someone doesn't like the nepo-baby. He did help get Frodo to Mordor. Does have that going for him even if Gandalph was annoyed by him. 🤪

Astin is very good in "The Final Season," about the high school baseball program in Norway, Iowa. A real hidden gem of a movie. Former Orioles pitcher Mike Boddicker is from Norway. www.imdb.com/title/tt0449018/

Well, if you don't like him, maybe you'll like Season 2 of Stranger Things.... Also, not a Goonies fan, eh? You a big Mikey fan? If so, please tell us why that would be. If you can get over the very dated racism, Goonies is a great movie. One of the best ever in Oregon. But it is largely in spite of the child actors. I remember another favorite movie filmed in and around Astoria / the North Coast that released the year after the Goonies was "Short Circuit" with Steve Guttenberg and Ally Sheedy ... "Number Five...is ALIVE!" Awesome song performed by El Debarge from that movie's soundtrack:

White dude playing an Indian very badly.

I remember another favorite movie filmed in and around Astoria / the North Coast that released the year after the Goonies was "Short Circuit" with Steve Guttenberg and Ally Sheedy ... "Number Five...is ALIVE!" Awesome song performed by El Debarge from that movie's soundtrack: Wilky can complain all he wants about that movie. Blatantly racist. White dude playing an Indian very badly. Apparently, they cast Fisher Stevens as the assistant and then were inspired to make the Ben character "foreign," because of Bronson Pinchot's "Serge" character in Beverly Hills Cop. Stevens has said that he would not have done the roll that way today, and John Badham has said that he was not intending to make fun of Indians. I don't remember anything like "Christmas Story"-level racist in "Short Circuit." But my memory of that movie is clouded by the sands of time.
