1. I hate Notre Dame even more than before watching the film. Glad OSU clobbered them twice in the early 2000's. 2. I found the parts in the move that were untrue that Joe Montana debunked in interviews following the release of the movie. Way to embellish the story Dan. www.sportscasting.com/joe-montana-just-broke-americas-heart-by-revealing-everything-wrong-with-rudy/3. I have one question: Did the administrators (who were priests) at Joliet Catholic really stop Dan Ruettiger from getting on a bus to a high school visit to Notre Dame and they straight up told him college was not for him? The film made the administrator look like a d-bag the way he engaged the character in the movie. If that really happened, did Dan ever return to Joliet Catholic after his "triumph" getting into ND and joining the team to show up the d-bag administrators and teachers..."look like what I did dipsh*ts"?

I hate to break this to you, but the movie "Rudy" was a drama not a documentary.

It was not widely publicized the movie was largely fictional with some basis in truth when it was released in 1993. It came out in later interviews with the directors, writers and the real life people depicted that many parts were embellished.

I like the movie still. I think it was one of Sean Austin’s best portrayals…far better than his work as Sam in LotR. But it’s clearly a work of fiction and embellishment. As you point out, the naysayers are too stereotypical.
Even without Montana’s statement about the end of the movie, the idea that a kid fought long and hard enough to be put in the game finally is a nice story. But it’s just a story.

Sean Astin (not Austin) is a hack. He blights every movie that he is in. His best role was probably in Encino Man as the boring one with Brendan Frazier and Pauly Shore, doing what he does best, next to nothing.

If you can get over the very dated racism, Goonies is a great movie. One of the best ever in Oregon. But it is largely in spite of the child actors.
