Washington high school basketball is a 3 point shooting contest like most high school and college ball is these days. Modifying how you defend to keep your best player active is key.
Gavin defended the top of the key for most of the game, played every minute and was a game changer. At dang near 7 feet I can’t remember watching a kid in person that size with that much speed and bounce.
He finishes everything, he was the best passer on the floor for either team last night. I’m beyond excited to see what he does in the PAC 12.
His stat sheet was loaded 21 pts 11 rebounds, 5 steals, 5 assists, 4 blocks.
This is an all around team player that can do everything and do it at a high level.

Maybe we’ve found our point guard?

He looks kind of skinny; does he seem strong enough to defend down low and rebound at the college level?

Maybe we’ve found our point guard? He is an incredible passer, regardless of his height.

He looks kind of skinny; does he seem strong enough to defend down low and rebound at the college level? The truth about genetics is most white kids don’t develop at the pace of black kids. His dad is built like a tight end and I’ve seen the other men in his family around the AAU circuit and they are pretty stout too. He’s a 6’11 version of the wing forwards we saw a decade ago that were 6’7. If there is a 6’11 kid with more mobility and speed in the 2023 class I have not come across him. If he’s hitting jumpers in the pac 12, along with everything else he does, Beaver fans will be in for a treat.
