Do we want him? Would be his third school. Short term solution, maybe. 2,397 yards with 10 touchdowns and nine interceptions as Pitt’s starting quarterback in 2022. He’s thrown for 9,973 yards and 68 touchdowns, at a 65.9% clip, over four seasons at USC and Pitt. pittsburghsportsnow.com/2022/12/12/former-pitt-qb-kedon-slovis-details-transfer-portal-process-schools-with-mutual-interest/"So far, coaches from UCLA and BYU have come out to meet face to face,” said Slovis. “Also, I’ve been talking to Oregon State and plan on meeting with them either before or after their bowl game when I get back home (to Arizona). Those are the ones I’ve been in contact with the most and that I’ve had a mutual interest in so far.”

He can come compete if he wants. No money and no guarantees. His production has been poor since his first year

I don't think Coach is taking a straw pole on our message board site... but if he was I would be a "Thanks, but NO Thanks" vote.
He looked better at U$C than this year at Pitt. I also think the Pac 12 was a little down on talent when he was playing for SC.
But I do trust this coaching staff to evaluate skill and talent.

Just reading this on the net. You might want to spit up.
· Dec 13 On NIL:
“Ohio State missed out on a 5 star recruit because they could not pay him even half of what he was looking for. They didn’t get him over $750k.”
“UGA offered the kid 1.8M to sign and 800k/season... OSU couldn't get him more than 500K”

Damn - this NIL/ transfer portal crap may well kill college football.

Many of them won't pan out and the investment will be wasted.

None of the money is coming from schools. Not like the boosters will suddenly run out of money. It's just making college football pay-for-play free agency every year like the Uncle Phils of the world want. He is certainly not running out of money as long as people keep paying for Nike products made by children in Vietnamese sweatshops.

He is certainly not running out of money as long as people keep paying for Nike products made by children in Vietnamese sweatshops. That money is absolutely coming form the schools. Not directly, but indirectly - those same donors were previously donating to the programs to fund extravagant locker rooms, practice facilities, etc. They likely still still are, but now the donors can get direct credit for their donations, plus get tax write-offs, marketing promotions, etc via the NIL route. Still, rich people don't like wasting money, regardless of how much they have. When a kid makes that kind of money and doesn't pan out, donors will think twice and/or structure the deals to have performance-based payouts. Even pro teams pay very few rookies very handsomely, kids coming out of HS are a much bigger risk of not panning out. My guess is that the NIL payouts are in a bubble and the market will normalized to only a handful of 'can't miss' prospects able to command serious money (or the already-proven transfers).

It those kind of numbers are being thrown around there is no way it can continue without some kind of Rate Scale for recruits. No real recruiting, pay up or don't bother talking.

The transfer portal, in general, poses an interesting dilemma for high school recruits. Do you sign with a school that is constantly portal "shopping"? What incentive do they have to sign with a school that has demonstrated they would rather buy a "developed" player rather than put the effort into coaching up their recruits?

Exactly...the NIL thing is going to burn some teams...and maybe even hinder recruiting once big purchase is made. I look forward to reading about $3M busts at hole
