There are two types of conversations that happen after a loss. The first one, someone says that Tinkle needs to be fired and can't coach his way out of a paper bag. A second poster will suggest Tinkle must've stolen the guy's girlfriend, and they proceed to fight in several subsequent posts. The second one, someone will say that the team showed some positives. A reply will come in about "accepting mediocrity" or something, and tell the guy that he's the reason the Beavs suck, because he doesn't have the BALLS to fire a coach and hold everyone accountable. They then proceed to fight in several subsequent posts. If your opinion is that Tinkle should be fired, your arguments probably are: - He has a losing record in conference
- He has coached two of the worst seasons in school history
- This year, the Beavs have held a lead in the second half of four of our six losses
- He can't recruit winners
If your opinion is that Tinkle should not be fired, your arguments probably are: - He has more winning seasons here than anyone since Ralph
- He has led the Beavs to the only two NCAA tournaments since Ralph
- He won a Pac-12 Tournament
- After the 5 win season, he turned us around rather quickly, and should get the chance to do it again
Also, anyone who is in the "don't fire Tinkle" camp, is just saying "don't fire him YET." This isn't a Pat Casey "build a statue" type of situation at all for anyone.

Without taking your excellent post into the weeds, let's just agree that as a country we have become way too polarized for our own good. And all of us should be able to hold two competing thoughts and views in our head, without having to consider them mutually exclusive and needing to identify exclusively with either the "Fire WT!" camp or "WT is the GOAT!" camp. Like all humans, WT has some issues and blind spots, and he is also the OSU coach who has taken us to amazing heights in The Dance.
I am grateful for WT's presence, for without ever exchanging as much as a "how do you do?", he has helped reinforce a lesson. He has reinforced to me that as a passionate but casual follower and fan of OSU hoops since 1987, I have NO control over who coaches the Beavers, how the coach coaches the Beavers, etc. etc. All I can do is choose to tune in or not, choose to follow or not, choose to buy tickets/donate or not, choose to scream at the TV or not. And I like to watch good basketball. I like to watch players grow and develop. So I often watch, but I reserve the right to turn off the TV when domestic harmony is threatened by the spectacle on TV (the Management doesn't like me yelling at the screen :-). I no longer have MBB season tix, and there are seasons where the TV is off more often than it is on. I have mellowed out, and learned to pour my passions into areas that I can influence more, but either find ways to enjoy what is on the court/screen or not, but not get too upset about the situation. So thanks, WT, for that (and some football coaches, the volleyball coach, etc. etc.).
It is fun to come here and, uh, discuss, though.....And we can now discuss whether 'casual' fans are good or not :-). And thanks @nbabeav, for so clearly articulating the two positions jockeying for position in my head! Go Beavers!

"All of the above" are valid arguments, via TWO opposing views.
