The Army-Navy game is a great moment of celebration for millions of cadets, vets, current serving and others. Much pride for them in the inter-service rivalry.
Outside of that orbit, nationally on the college football landscape, it is one of the most irrelevant games. It is a good thing they are perennial non-impact programs because if either were ever ranked in the CFP, would the bowl announcements have to wait for them to play their out of cycle game?
In addition, both teams, especially Army, run archaic versions of the triple option. Sooooooo boring!

I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but my god, those uniforms (both) are heinous.

Since 2010, Army has defeated SMU, San Diego State, Missouri, Houston and North Texas in bowl games.
Since 2009, Navy has defeated Kansas State, Virginia, Pitt, San Diego State, Missouri and Middle Tennessee in bowl games.
I'd like for us to be that irrelevant.
This year's Army and Navy teams are uncharacteristically poor, made worse because I think both team's best quarterbacks are injured. Both teams run a version of option football, but neither team runs the triple option.
And I also do not understand why they trick up their uniforms to much for this game. Army's traditional black and gold and Navy's blue and gold are classics.

The first 50 minutes were awful but the last 10 minutes and the OT were great. What a goal-line stand by Army. And the kicker came through. Army is now bowl-eligible. He had missed a 42-yarder at the end and a PAT in a 10-9 loss at Troy so this is nice redemption for him.
Feel horrible for the Navy RB who fumbled, but that's football.
The alma mater tradition after the game is outstanding.

The alma mater tradition after the game is outstanding. Army played two FCS teams and is not bowl eligible. Rice with the highest APR of all conditionally bowl-eligible teams at 5-7 will play Southern Miss in the LendingTree Bowl, which kicks off at 2:45 p.m. PST after the Las Vegas Bowl. The next conditionally bowl eligible team (in case a team needs to back out of a bowl or something, like all of the COVID-19 backouts last year) is UNLV followed by Auburn and Michigan State, which are tied. Army follows those three.

Navy Head coach Ken Niumatalolo fired today... Football success is not the priority in these academies so much as it is in others. It’s like these two schools have football just for this one game. At least Air Force builds a program to chase conference championships and rankings. Always seems Army and Navy could care less beyond yesterday’s game.

About 5 years ago, I had the very good fortune to attend the Army-Navy game in person. It was a bucket list item for me, and very well worth the effort. To see this American spectacle was an honor, and watching the pre-game pageantry of the Midshipmen and Cadets was beyond expectations I encourage everyone to take an opportunity and experience this American tradition.
My next bucket list item is to see a game at West Point. Can't wait.

Army-Navy is on my bucket list as well. Probably will have to wait until retirement.
And Coach Ken being fired is further proof that college football is floating ever closer to the drain.

My next bucket list item is to see a game at West Point. Can't wait. He should have taken the BYU job in 2016. Sitake got it instead but KN was their top choice. At the academies you're often only as good as your QB, even moreso than at most schools because of their option offenses. He had a great one in Keenan Reynolds and Navy had great teams then. Michie Stadium is great. They will renovate the east grandstand, thought, and I think it will block the view of the Lusk Reservoir from the west side. Still, it's well worth the trip. Not sure if you can get up on post without a scheduled tour visit anymore. www.michiestadium.com/The video will make it kind of dusty in your house.

Wow. At least USC let Kane Kiffin get a ride back into town before his termination. How much would it be to Uber from Philly to Annapolis?
