Oregon has two prep pitching prospects that project well in the next MLB Amateur Draft. Paul Wilson is a gifted southpaw from Lakeridge HS and Noble Meyer is a right hander from Jesuit HS. Wilson has been the No. 1 ranked player in the '23 class for two years but didn't have the summer that Meyer did in 2022, and consequently, Meyer became the top ranked player in Oregon this fall.
Perfect Game has Wilson slotted in the 4th or 5th round, Baseball America has Meyer going in the first round at #11. That's 4 slots before Mick Abel was projected to go in 2020. Right now, Wilson appears to be the best bet to play college baseball. Wilson is committed to Oregon State, Meyer to Oregon.
Here is what BA says about Meyer:
Rd. 1 - #11. Angels — Noble Meyer, RHP, Jesuit HS, Portland, Ore.
"Meyer ascended to the top prep pitching prospect nationally in the class this summer, thanks to a combination of size (6-foot-5, 195 pounds), stuff (a fastball that touches upper 90s and a slider that flashes 70-grade potential) and command."
