We're playing some good teams this preseason.

OSU is just outside of the top 50 right now (59), which seems about right. Jackson State is not far behind at 72, also seems about right. It also reveals the rest of the schedule has been bad teams.
I thought Hawaii would be better, but they are at #201, and have struggled to win since we played them. I guess the good news is that we can view that as a sign this team is rapidly improving, as a team can barely beat Hawaii should not be able to beat Jackson State. Having leading scorers of AJ, TvO and Hansford vs. Hawaii indeed wasn't prophetic of our most reliable formula.

Hawaii's performance has been a little bit of a surprise, but one loss was to Stanford and two were to Florida Gulf Coast, which is 7-1 and trailed Stanford 61-53 going into the fourth quarter of a 93-69 loss. FGCU also has transfers from Providence, Michigan State/Mississippi State (one player), Florida/Vanderbilt (one player), Montana and Oregonian Milan Schimmel, who made a stop at Cincinnati. FWIW.

FGCU has run an outstanding program for many years. Always in the tourney, even have been ranked some years and rarely if ever lose at home. They usually shoot and make the most 3's in the country.

That ground can be covered quite easily if the Beavers keep on their (relatively) upward trend as in continuing to mesh as a team and the ongoing development of Beers, Pietsch, etc. Add Gardiner to the mix and once she gets on track, OSU should have a good shot at the tourney. But it will all take some time.
