Wasn’t pretty, but Beavs got themselves a conference win. Last 10 minutes was full of one step forward, two steps back stretches. Thankfully they had built a nice lead and a “one step forward” moment for Beavers happened at end of game. I’ll take it. Go Beavs!

I was unable to watch the game, another sporting event held my interest. However, when I saw how short the thread was, I figured it must be good news. Looks as if I was right. How did you come to that conclusion? For the baseball board, short threads are losses. Lol Well, on the football and basketball boards it's the opposite. Always much longer threads when they lose than when they win.

Man that was rough late - but after last year there will be no complaints from me about winning games. Helpfully we get more confident against the press.

Always good to get a dub vs. U-dub. Really pretty at times, real ugly at times. 1-0 in conference is real pretty though, and a limping WSU at home next.

They are on the road vs USC. They only play WSU once this season and that's in Pullman in February. They play WSU(r) and UCLA(h) once each everyone else in conference twice. www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/team/schedule/_/id/204

I'm breathing a sigh of relief.
I turned on the game with about 5-6 minutes left and the Beavers were up by 5-6 points and Pope immediately got trapped in the corner in backcourt and turned it over. I said to my wife "I'm not jinxing it" and turned it off.
First time I've ever done that. Glad to see they won.

Just assumed we were up next with WSU in Eugene tonight.

I think it was you who wondered if performance — or lack there of — against PSU might have signaled that WT had lost team again this year. I’d say the celebrating after the game seemed to show that isn’t the case.

In fact, I would’ve been relieved without the W, but the W feels so good….over 6-1 UW. I didn’t like what I saw against Portland State at all. This helps a lot.

And hats off to Donavan Grant and the rest of the bench for bringing some energy. Like to see that excitement and cheering on their teammates. Everyone has a role and that particular role is magnified when attendance is lacking.

Also... to throw myself in the "moral victory" and "guy who thinks anything that's just better than last season is all sunshine and rainbows" (did I miss any? Lol) category... This team now has more wins on December 1st than all of last season. I don't expect more than 10-12 wins this year, we've definitely put up some duds (PSU twice, Florida), but I am very excited about a potential future with the guys we have. If this squad sticks together, with the number of young guys on this team all gaining experience and playing together, I could see them being a really fundamentally solid team with a lot of chemistry even as soon as next season. The flashes shown against Duke, most of today, and even in the Tulsa game make me think there are good things ahead for Beaver basketball.

In 1954-55, Oregon State started 2-5. Oregon State played at home against Seattle in game eight, winning 64-59, in front of 2,695 fans. Oregon State went on a 20-2 run over the next 22 games to win the Pacific Coast Conference and break into the Elite Eight. 11,315 turned out to watch the Civil War basketball game at Gill 32 days later.
Oregon State took Bill Russell's San Francisco to the wire ultimately bowing out in the Elite Eight by a point. The Beavers were the closest from beating the Dons in a more than two-year period over three seasons.
