1958 PGA champion passed on November 4.
I don’t know anything more about him as a golfer and frankly don’t care. He just had a great name

1958 PGA champion passed on November 4. I don’t know anything more about him as a golfer and frankly don’t care. He just had a great name Finsterwald won the Vardon Trophy in 1957. In 1958, he won the second ever PGA Championship and was the PGA Player of the Year. In 1962, Finsterwald lost the Masters to Arnold Palmer in a playoff. Finsterwald finished in the money in 72 consecutive tournaments, which was second to Byron Nelson. Since then, Jack Nicklaus, Hale Irwin and Tiger Woods each passed Finsterwald. Dow Finsterwald, Jr. , is still alive and in the Texas Golf Hall of Fame. There is also a Dow Finsterwald III tooling around somewhere. |
