No. 5-7 is never crushing it UNLV has pretty much always been bad. Less sucky is not crushing it. 5-7 is "less sucky?" Praise from Caesar! Jake Luton's senior year? Less sucky. Jermar Jefferson's last full year? Less sucky. Isaiah Hodgins? Less sucky. Noah Togiai? Less sucky. Blake Brandel, Clay Cordasco, and Nathan Eldridge? Less sucky. Andrzej Hughes-Murray? Less sucky. Jalen Moore? Less sucky. Daniel Rodriguez? Less sucky. Thanks for coming out guys and putting together Oregon State's best season in six years, and giving Oregon State something to build on for the future, the light at the end of one long, dark, and seemingly never-ending tunnel. You were all collectively a flaming pile of dog poo to Smails, but...........Y'know, that dude is a whiny b. I would just ignore him. Thanks 2019 Oregon State Beavers! You crushed it! You can name all the players you want. A losing record is not crushing it. Do you think Kragthorpe crushed it at 4-6-1? I don’t.

Oregon State played the hardest schedule in the country in a ridiculously up (greatest ever?) top-to-bottom Pac-10. The Pac-10 went 29-7 in non-conference play with two of those losses coming to #1 Notre Dame. A third loss was to #4 Michigan. USC's Rodney Peete finished second Heisman balloting to Oklahoma State's Barry Sanders. UCLA's Troy Aikman finished third. Dennis Erickson, in his second year, won a bowl game at Wazzu for the first time in 73 years. His quarterback Timm Rosenbach finished seventh in Heisman balloting. A lot of all-time great Beavers on that team. Poor offensive line play. Kragthorpe made it work anyway. Wilhelm seemed to limp off the field every 10 or 11 plays before walking back on with a slightly better limp. Robb Thomas was beat to a pulp weekly. Eye scratch? Playing. Concussion? Playing. No choice. There was no one else. The Beavers won the only Civil War between 1974 and 1998 at Parker. Crushed it. The Beavers were a blown 17-point fourth quarter lead away from a non-losing season. Oregon State crushed it. To go 4-6-1 against that Pac-10, against that schedule? Ridiculous. 1988 Beavers crushed it. Badmouth somebody else's team.

Wilhelm was my roommate that year. He did not think they “crushed it” You, are no doubt an attorney. Nice try with the spin. Posters on this board claim Riley’s 6-9 win seasons were settling for mediocrity, but you claim 4 wins is crushing it. I’m not settling for Wilkiocrity. I’m done with this argument.

The 08 and 09 Civil War losses were two of the biggest strikes on Riley's record and IMO a huge reason why there is still a fair amount of anti-Riley sentiment among the fan base. They were simply unforgiveable for some. 2008 for sure. I think that everyone appreciated 2009. But the lack of a win in both games made the dark days of 2010-2011 darker. If Oregon State had just held on to a nine-point second half lead in 2009, the fire Riley crowd may never have gotten so numerous and vocal, and, maybe, we don't have BDC blunder into interfering with staff decisions. Heck, if Oregon State had won in 2009, maybe we keep Keith Heyward after 2011. Heyward still has to be on the short list of guys I would want Smitty to consider at DC, in case Bray ever leaves. Heyward is tooling around at UNLV right now. I just wanted to bump this, because I wrote it right before the 2022 Civil War.
