Not quite. Yet Rodrique Andela has the exact same physical stats as Lonnie Shelton. They have similar skills. Lonnie had a certain something that Rodrique hasn’t shown. Was it smoothness, speed ? Any thoughts?

Any thoughts? Andela is no Lonnie. One of the quickest big men osu has ever had...with his hands and feet. Outside shot too. Lonnie was 6-8 253 pounds so I guess there is that similarity...weighed on a road trip to Cal. Too,Lonnie was one of the top 5,athletes osu has ever had. 60' in the shot put...195 and state champ in the discus in Bakersfield,18 points and 20 Rpg,and recruited by everyone for football. Rodrique is a competent player, but Lonnie was an NBA all star and enforcer.

Lonnie pre-dates my Beavers fanship, so O only know him from his pro days. I remember him as more athletic than Andela and having a better all around game. Andela has a bit of “lumbering” to his play and strictly a center. But very glad to have Andela on this team.

I think it's more that Shelton was a phenomenal athlete for his size than Andela lacking athleticism for his size. A Lonnie Shelton comes along once in decades, maybe even a lifetime.

Here's hoping we don't have to forfeit as many games with Andela as we did with Lonnie! But yeah, Shelton was a beast.

Lonnie S. was a great basketball player with a football player's body. For those of us lucky enough to have seen him play in Gill, you know that nobody pushed him around, and I mean nobody.
"The Dunk" remains as one of my favorite OSU basketball memories!

Rob Nairne would be on my list...bad dude according to my high school coach who played with him. Lol But yes,Lonnie was an enforcer in his time in the league with Maurice Lucas and others.
