Reports from west coast media outlets indicate the San Diego State Aztecs will be introduced this week as new members to the PAC-11. Reliable sources are all on board with the pending announcement. Even Canzano and Wilner are buying in.
From our baseball perspective, San Diego State plays good competitive baseball and is generally considered the best program in the MWC. Great weather, Tony Gwinn Stadium, good attendance, and would bolster our recruiting effort in the San Diego area.

Highly doubtful...The PAC-12 commish has said numerous times the television contract will be done first before expansion. Not saying it won't happèn eventually.

What the Commissioner says and what he does might be two different actions. He has 10 schools with major concerns about their Conference's future. At least six of his member schools have been in conversation with other conferences (Big-10, Big-12, ACC).
He is under pressure to provide Oregon and Washington with assurances and a conference survival plan. Expansion is part of that. UO and UW have both signaled they do not have a lot of interested in the PAC as presently constructed.
Waiting on a TV deal is ludicrous. The PAC has lost their two most influential members. It is now a 10 team conference as opposed to 12 teams (a minimum for Power-5 Conferences). The largest TV market (soCal) is gone. The Big-10 just inked a $10 billion deal with several networks. The Big-12 just signed a $2 billion dollar deal with the networks. How much interest and how much money do you think they have for the wounded PAC-10? How much interest to they have in the Pullman, Corvallis, Boulder and Salt Lake Markets?

Gonzaga and Pac-12 offer a reminder about how to interpret realignment chatter Donovan James Thu, November 10, 2022 at 7:33 AM The subject of Gonzaga and its possible move to the Pac-12 brings up a good and imporant reminder about realignment intrigue and rumors. When we say that a school is talking with a conference, just how serious is it? Just how big a development is it?
Jon Wilner articulates the true importance of Gonzaga and the Pac-12 talking, as is the case with any school and any conference who gather around a table to discuss their futures: “Of course, the Pac-12 has discussed membership with Gonzaga — and with San Diego State, too, for that matter.
“Everybody’s talking to everybody. The difference is that the Big 12’s meeting with Gonzaga was leaked to the media, while the Pac-12 has kept conversations private. “We won’t offer a guess on Gonzaga’s ultimate destination — the Big East is also a possibility — and it’s entirely possible the Zags stay right where they are. There’s a strong case to be made that the WCC provides coach Mark Few with the best path to the national championship.”
Talk is just talk. If we learn that actual negotiations are occurring, that’s a different matter, and it represents an advancement in the seriousness of a pursuit.
Merely talking? As Wilner said, everyone does that … and everyone should.

The PAC-10 will get more than the Big 8. The Ducks and Dawgs would be wise to stay to just stay in the PAC-10. The road to the playoffs is much easier in the PAC than the big 10 going to a 12 team play off sooner rather than later. 33-35 million per team in the televion negotiation. Amazon prime has plenty of cash to invest. Just as the road to the NCAA title is easier in their current conference, the road is easier for uo or UW.

And what happens to "Eugene" when their 85-year old sugar daddy goes off to the big sweatshop in the sky?

I know the Nike influence is helpful,but...

The Big 12's ceiling and floor are both lower than the Pac-12 minus 2's ceiling and floor. Add in San Diego State and someone else for market, and this could still work out fairly well. The Big 12 is a fallback, in case the Pac-12 minus 2 starts to becomes 3 or 4 or 5. In that case, the Big 12 becomes a much more viable alternative to a Mountain West Plus Conference.

Another week has passed without a word from the PAC Commissioner's office. Silence on both expansion and a new Media deal.
Both Amazon and Apple networks may be in search of sports programming - how much interest (if any) might they have in saddling up with George and the PAC-10 Conference?

Pac blew it when Texas and OU left the Big12. Needed to get OkState, Texas Tech, SDState and Houston right then and there. Unfortunately, one of 2 things happened. Either USC/Ucla blocked it knowing they were already deliberating leaving. Or PAC leadership had analysis paralysis.

Larry Scott had to go, though, right? He was holding us back. Or something. The Pac-12 put itself into a position to fail by intentionally weakening itself at the exact moment that it needed to be strong. Larry Scott either had to be fired earlier or later. Bad timing by the Pac-12.

I think the U of California regents delaying their decision until Dec 12 (or is that the deadline for more info from UCLA?) is the reason nothing has broken. The conference and Amazon may already have two numbers. One number with UCLA and SDSU and a second with SDSU and a school to be named later.
