Myles Straw won the Gold Glove in center. This is the first year ever that two Cleveland outfielders won a Gold Glove in the same year. The last time that a Cleveland outfielder won a Gold Glove was Grady Sizemore back in 2008. As I posted 12 days ago, I thought that Kwan was definitely the best leftfielder in the AL. Kwan is the first Cleveland rookie to win a Gold Glove since Sandy Almoar Jr. in 1990. Kwan is the first Cleveland leftfielder to win a Gold Glove since Minnie Miñoso in 1959. Shane Bieber and Andrés Giménez also won Gold Gloves for Cleveland. This is the first time that Cleveland has had four Gold Glove winners ever. It is the first time that an AL team has had more than three Gold Glove winners since 2003 (Mariners). Someone will have to check me, but I believe that Kwan is the first Beaver to win a Gold Glove since Darwin Barney in 2012. Darwin Barney, of course, won it the year after Jacoby Ellsbury won it in 2011. Ellsbury was the first ever Beaver to ever win a Gold Glove. |
