So I'm thinking about taking my fam to Arizona in Feb.
I have a 13 yo daughter and a 10 yo son.....they are somewhat invested in Beavs baseball but I need other things if u know what I mean.
Good place to stay with a pool?
Other fun places to take the kids?

Not a lot to do around surprise other than the games. White tank mountain park is good for hiking. There is a wildlife safari type zoo. West gate mall and entertainment district is 20 minutes away in Glendale. Most everything else fun is on the east side of the valley. Phoenix zoo is fun, huge water park in Mesa. 3 or 4 nice hotels within walking distance of the stadium. I would avoid Bell avenue east of the stadium, traffic is terrible where Bell meets hwy 60.

You also have major league facilities you can tour and watch players working on their craft. Although games don't start until March.

White Tank (a very large, mostly natural, park) is great for outdoor desert mountain exploring. We camp there every year and find the 20 minute drive to the ballpark quite simple. Day use entrance to White Tank is $7 per vehicle. Lotsa well-maintained trails. The only trail that seems to get crowded is the Waterfall Trail (don't expect much water). You might see a family of Javelina.
If you're travelling with a dog, there is a wonderful large green grass park adjacent to the stadium parking lot. Most 'wild' areas (i.e. White Tank) have lots of Cholla just waiting to painfully attach to your dog.
Getting around to the other nearby west Phoenix suburbs is pretty simple, except DO Avoid peak commute hours if your journey would take you thru central Phoenix. Phoenix is huge (i.e. almost 50 miles from Surprise to Mesa).
Ballgame tickets are super easy to obtain at the ticket booth at the stadium. Ballpark is typically (maybe?) 1/4 full....sit anywhere, anytime. There is shaded areas as a result of the un-used upper deck. Some days/years the shade is your friend. Some years it feels more like March in the NW. It's a pretty impressive major league spring training facility (home of the KC Royals & Texas Rangers). MLB starts 2/24.

I'd recomend a bit of a hike in the Sedona area if you are renting a car. Check the weather forecast, pack accordingly. I'd also recommend Uptown Alley.
