..of continuing to wheel Lee Corso out on the set of College Gameday? He's 87, he hasn't coached in 40 years. He deserves a dignified retirement. I do not want to witness him leaving the show "feet-first". He reminds me of Bob Hope's last appearances on the Tonight Show in the early 90's promoting one of his "specials". The guy had lost his fastball, his curve and his changeup and even an intentional walk was a test.

I don't think ESPN has a gun to his head forcing him to continue to appear on College Gameday against his will ... if he didn't want to do it anymore and wanted to just retire for good to his home in Florida he would have already.
He clearly enjoys still being out there on the set and doing what he does with the mascot headgear picks and what not, and he doesn't even appear for the whole show anymore taking regular breaks for Pollack to take his place in the chair. He has been doing the show for so long and might not want to think about just sitting at home during football season and not being there when he still has the gumption to do so especially at his age.
