Imagine what we could do with Goss if the state of Oregon actually believed in helping support intercollegiate athletics at its public universities. I know some will say state government has no business supporting intercollegiate athletics, that any money spent to support a university should be on academic-related projects. I'll disagree. For what I believe is a solid majority of students, intercollegiate athletics are integral to the total college experience, and enough other states do it so why not ours? We all don't have a Phil Knight or T. Boone Pickens to donate millions and millions of private money for over-the-top facilities. Most schools need some sort of help, especially for non-revenue venues like baseball, softball, swimming, volleyball, wrestling and soccer. ballparkdigest.com/2022/10/10/state-grant-clears-way-for-new-marshall-university-ballpark/
