Only about 10 guys are going to hit .300 in the American League this year. Part of me hopes they sit him. He has worked so hard to get there and has had such a great year.

Kwan is ninth in the Majors in batting average. About eight at bats left. Kwan probably needs two hits over the final two games to stay above .300. Five hits probably moves Kwan up to about sixth. 8/8 ties him up with Aaron Judge for fifth.

It should be close.

An interesting fact is that finishing in the top two in voting for Rookie of the Year means that your first year is a full year of service. So, if Rutschman finishes first or second, he will be a free agent after the 2028 season, rather than after the 2029 season. If Rodriguez is destined to win, it would probably be best if Rutschman finishes second.

Isn't that weird? Yeah. So, Rutschman gets credit for a full year, if he finishes in the top two. Kwan gets the year either way.

It was an easy bargaining chip for the owners to negotiate away, along with raising the minimum to $700K.

It's Cleveland. CLEVELAND. Besides, he won't place higher than third in the ROY race.
