Aaron Fitt from D1 Baseball was there. He’s going to be disappointed. The double header consisted of two 7 inning games. That's what the tickets said but they played 2-9 innings. We were very confused but pleased

Game TWO had an odd arrangement in that the Zags got to start the top of each inning with a runner on 1B before any pitches had been thrown. Seated nearby us were several sets of Beav players parents who suggested that was the Beavs way of giving numerous pitchers a chance to practice working out of the stretch. That factor, plus the fact that the Zags outhit the beavs - about 14 to 12 (?) - led to a Zags 'victory' (15-10 I think). Game two also saw several true freshman arms on the mound for 1 or 2 innings each. I suspect that some of them may not be on the final roster. Young Forrester made a couple smooth plays at SS and had some success at the plate and showed excellent fielding instincts. Jacob Krieg played 1B in Game 2 (Guerra played 1B in Game 1). Krieg had a timely 3-Run HR to give the Beavs an early 6-0 lead in game 2. Tyree Reed was there as one of the chief cheerleaders, but apparently not yet ready to play. Garrett Forrester was there as well as the obvious team leader, but a teammates parent told me that his first day of full batting practice was only a day or 2 ago. Gavin Turley had a fun day. His HR was a monster. The outfielders didn't even budge as the ball left his bat. Here's a pic of Gavin, wearing #1, on-deck: img.auctiva.com/imgdata/1/6/0/4/5/4/4/webimg/1116449137_o.jpg

Were you able to get a look at any of the transfer or freshman pitchers?

Man I live in Bend and I would have gone to this game if I had known about it ahead of time! I didn't hear about it until yesterday.

Infield looks a bit rough. The (physical) infield itself in Bend has a reputation as one of the worst in the Summer WCL. It's being replaced with modern artificial turf very soon. I've heard that the Oct. 1 DH is possibly the final game played on that turf. Despite that, Beaver infielders such as Cadyn Grenier, Joey Wong, Tyler Smith, Chris Kunda, Jabin Trosky and others have all called the infield at Vince Genna Stadium "home" for a summer.
