Where will the San Francisco Giants assign their promising young outfielder for the 2023 season?
Will it be Advanced A with the Eugene Emeralds in the Northwest League or might it be the class AA Richmond Flying Squirrels in Virginia?
It certainly won't be San Jose in the Class A California League where Meckler is badly mistreating opposing pitchers.
Wade has made 99 plate appearances and has drawn 20 BB, stroked 11 doubles and a home run in 79 official ABs.
His slash line is gaudy! .367/ .500/.544 with an OPS of 1,044. Those stats are near the top of the charts on California League stats.
A little buzz going on in the Giant front offices.

IIRC, California League offensive stats are typically inflated.
Not to say Meckler is doing poorly, but a 1.044 OPS in the Cali League isn't exactly translatable to all other leagues.
I also know that the Bakersfield team was eliminated a few years ago, which had a notoriously short 354 foot center field fence, so that may have mitigated some of the offensive inflation.

The California State League was switched from Advanced A to Low A during MLB's recent MiLB shakeup and reduction to 120 teams. I haven't seen anything lately in terms of ranking the various Minor Leagues.
Prior to the shakeup, for many years the California League was ranked right behind the Florida State League as the premier High-A League in MiLB.
Low A is Low A, a beginning point for many professional players starting their careers. How much difference can their really be from one Low A league to the next?
