As Putin paints himself into a corner, and the Russian military is exposed as a paper tiger his moves are growing increasingly desperate.
Anyone else getting a little concerned that he's about to light off a Nuke?

As Putin paints himself into a corner, and the Russian military is exposed as a paper tiger his moves are growing increasingly desperate. Anyone else getting a little concerned that he's about to light off a Nuke? To what end? Everyone loses with nukes. I lose slightly less. Yay! Reminds me of 9/11. The terrorists talked about trying to fly one of the planes into a nuclear power plant but decided against it, because that would be crazy. Putin has at least two daughters and at least three grandchildren. The dude is a borderline sociopath, but he's not stupid. He would have to be stupid to use a nuclear weapon or just insane. If he's either, one of the second tier of higher-ups takes care of this problem for everyone.

If he's either, one of the second tier of higher-ups takes care of this problem for everyone. A logical mind would have to agree with you. What's the point of dropping nukes when you are directly downwind of the fallout? That's the problem... Is he still sane? Are we so sure he's not suicidal? He's certainly not a smart as many think he is. Just about every move he's made has been an epic failure, and he's personally responsible for moving the world directly in the opposite direction from his own goals in record fashion. Putin has demonstrated that he doesn't give 2 schitts about the lives of his people. This whole thing smacks of the angry, spoiled kid who has to knock the game board off the table because he's clearly losing. "If I can't win, we all go down" I'm also concerned that there is anyone left to stand up to him if he goes too far. It sure doesn't seem like there are any guardrails left.

The Chinese are still onboard, so sane enough? Man, the dude has kids. He was in East Germany for Chernobyl. If he's sane, he's not going to use a nuke. No one sane uses nukes except as an emergency last resort. And he's just not there yet. If he's not sane, he's getting deposed. Even Hitler had people plotting against him and Hitler also had generals who flat out would not send high schoolers out to meet certain death underneath Russian tanks. And Putin's no Hitler, no matter how he may aspire to that level of totalitarianism. There must be guardrails, and they are emboldened by failure. I believe that Putin over-estimated the Ukrainian resolve and the West's response. (Of course the West's political leadership had some real facepalm moments in the leadup that did not help the situation in the least.) Russia's greatest successes outside of Russia of the past 400 years are always as liberators. Putin overestimated how many people wanted to be "liberated." I mean Napoleon was the greatest military mastermind in the last millennium, and he still was tooling around in the snow in Moscow until October 19th. And Putin is no Napoleon.

If China wants this to stop, it will stop. Russia can't feed itself without China..........or large portions of Ukraine. (Food is generally underrated as a geopolitical driver in my opinion.) I agree wholeheartedly with what you say. Also, China is like the Cylons in Battlestar Galactica. They have a plan. I keep worrying that this is all part of it, the world's worst shell game.
