I don't think you can answer that question today.
It was anticipated there were 27 players from the 2022 roster set to return for 2023. That does not include Tom Dukart or Matt Gretler - there have been questions regarding their return. Are they practicing this fall?
There are 21 new recruits practicing, bringing the fall roster total to 48 players.
The coaching staff must pare that total to 39 prior to the Surprise trip. The NCAA limit is 35 but a school may carry up to 5 additional players that lost eligibility during the Covid Pandemic in 2020. Brown, Lattery, Dernedde, and McDowell all qualify for that waiver.
That would mean 9 players will be released. I think it highly improbable that all 9 cuts will be from the incoming recruiting class.
I fear we will be saying goodbye to several veteran players.
If you wish to do a little roster analysis, begin with the pitchers. 25 of those 48 players practicing are pitchers (15 returning + 10 new). Several of the incoming pitchers are also capable position players as well.

That sounds plausible. I heard it mentioned but didn't see any announcement originating from the coaching staff, but I certainly could have missed it. I'm curious, does anyone know who reported it and where was it formally announced?
Same scenario with Dukart - some discussion about him possibly moving on, but nothing announced.

Dukart transferred to Texas Tech. Gretler medically retired.

It's a minor point. either way, we will likely cut 9 or 10 guys.
So, to answer JDogge's question (. . . and they are?), who are you predicting will be included on the 39 man roster ?
