Word is that he was looking for that job a year ago. Rebecca Blank, who was appointed last October to a term to start in June walked away after a cancer diagnosis. That the new vacancy was filled in less than two months suggests he was Northwestern's runner-up in last year's search - I certainly didn't see any public search after Blank's announcement.
