Trent Sellers has announced that he is transferring in from Lewis-Clark State in Idaho. Sellers has gone 22-1 with a 2.38 ERA and 217 strikeouts, 38 short of the four-year Lewis-Clark State record.
Sellers went 14-0 in 2022, leading Lewis-Clark State to the NAIA Championship Game and was named to the 2022 Avista NAIA World Series All-Tournament Team. Sellers won the opener and the semifinal. Sellers came back in on one day's rest keep Southeastern at bay the final two innings, but Lewis-Clark could not overcome the six-run deficit in the Championship Game.
Sellers' sole loss was in the first game of the 2021 season to Hope International. Hope International basically lost what amounts to a Super Regional to eventual NAIA National Champion Gwinnet College. Sellers finished a perfect 8-0 after that, including the Championship Game of the Cascade Tournament, the first and third games in the losers' bracket. Lewis-Clark State then was eliminated in the semifinal. Sellers' 9.1 shutout innings and two wins earned Sellers a spot on the 2021 Avista NAIA World Series All-Tournament Team.
Before Lewis-Clark State, Sellers was a relief pitcher for Wazzu. Sellers pitched against Oregon State in the Friday game. Sellers gave up a run in 1.2 innings on three hits and two walks. However, Sellers struck out Andy Armstrong and Troy Claunch in the process.
Anyway, Sellers struck me as a potentially huge get for 2023.

I really like the way the pitching staff is developing it's options for 2023*, with Sellers being one piece of the puzzle who brings great potential.
* return of Mundt, Lattery ready to compete for weekend starting role (in his own words, in July 2022), Ferrer back, Kmatz with a season under his belt...the list goes on.
Sellers is apparently looking at the Beavs to be an important part of contributing to his post-college baseball career.
Lewiston newspaper (8/9/22):
The former Warrior pitcher noted the lack of NAIA talent taken in the MLB draft in July.
“If you looked at the draft, there were two NAIA guys drafted,” Sellers said. “There were (at least) 100 other guys who were deserving.”

Do you think that Sellers was the backup for Tyler Gough and Geo Rivera. If one or the other comes, you probably do not have a spot for Sellers. Both sign, and now you have a spot. Is that what happened here?
