Upset that I didn't get to see him at KS [Went before he signed in 2014 and after promoted in 2015]. But the first article is old. He no longer has 12 dingers -- he's up to 25 for the season.

Dylan Davis, .296/.365/.547 26 HR 86 RBI for the Giants this year ... as of this morning. The kid is hitting .357 with 6 HR and 11 RBI over his last ten games with high A, San Jose.

He's now homered in his last 3 games. Having a monster year and he has to be the breakout player of all the Giants minor leaguers this year.
He also pitched two innings for Augusta this year when a game went deep into extra innings, sadly he took the loss.

Not to attempt to put a damper on the good things Davis is doing this year, but the A+ California League is known as a hitters league. Batting averages and ERAs are inflated there. The other major A+ league - Florida State League is just the opposite. A pitchers league where batting averages and ERAs are suppressed. But, I have also noticed the improvements Davis has made this year. Looks like he'll be moving on up the chain next season.

But, I have also noticed the improvements Davis has made this year. Looks like he'll be moving on up the chain next season. It may be true that the California League is a hitters league, but Dylan Davis is having an excellent year even in that league. Davis:
--is 8th in the California League for Home Runs at 18. Every one of the top 7 HR hitters above him have at least 105 more AB's on the season. Only two of the top HR hitters in the top 30 have less ABs than Davis.
--has a batting average of .301 that would be in the top 10 if he had enough AB's.
--has a slugging percentage of .593 that would lead the league.
There are a few hitters that have better stats than Davis but do not have enough ABs to qualify. One includes Edwin Rios, who in 190 ABs (Davis has 226) has 16 HRs, a .367 BA and a .714 slugging percentage. He has moved on to AA where his numbers are much more pedestrian.
