Just a little info for you to digest, particularly considering the Beavs have 2 top 10 2022 recruits this season:
I used on Hoopgurlz recruiting rankings for my research. That does not mean I consider Hoopgurlz as the best service for ranking recruits.
i used the TOP 50 ranked recruits from the class of 2020 and 2021. As reference, I consider players that transfer during the year of their recruiting class, or after that season as T1 players. Players that transfer during the 2nd year (generally their sophomore season) or after that season I reference as T2 players. Players that remain with the class they signed with are referenced as R players.
In the information below, I consider the year of their recruiting class as their first year. Because of the covid year, there were a few early entries (Talia, Olivia Miles, etc) but I used their true recruiting year as my reference point.
From the top 50 Hoopgurlz recruits of 2020 there were 11 T1 players (22% transferred after their 1st season)
Of those who remained, 15 more transferred after their sophomore year (52% of the top 50 ranked class of 2020 transferred by the end of their sophomore year)
From the 2021 class, 10 of the top 50 ranked recruits were T1. (20%)
From the 2020 class:
29 of the 50 averaged over 15 minutes per game their freshman year. 21 averaged under 15 minutes per game playing time.
By their sophomore year 34 averaged over 15mpg, while 16 of the 50 (32%) still did not play 15mpg
37 of the top 50 started at least one game their freshman campaign. During the sophomore year the number who started at least one game remained at 37.
20 players (40%) started at least 10 games, while 30 players started less than 10 games. During their Sophomore year 28 players (56%) started at least 10 games.
During their freshman year 16 of the 50 top recruits averaged at least 10ppg. 18 players (36%) averaged over 10ppg in their sophomore year.
If we only look at the Top 10 recruits:
In 2020 7 of the top 10 averaged over 10ppg
In 2021 only 3 of the top 10 averaged over 10ppg
In 2020 all 10 of the top 10 recruits averaged at least 15mpg
In 2021 only 5 of the top 10 recruits averaged at least 15mpg
in 2020 the average points per game for the top 10 players was 13.5ppg. This class had Paige Bueckers 20ppg, Catlin Clark, 26.6ppg, and Diamond Johnson 17.6ppg
In 2021, the top 10 only averaged 6ppg.
I'll post more information later in this thread (probably tomorrow evening).
