Arizona Player of the Year and a Rawlings Gold Glove Award Winner. If he makes it to Corvallis, he could probably take up a spot that is probably going to be vacated by Boyd, Meckler, and Melton. He led Arizona in home runs in 2022, hitting his 15th in the Championship Game at Tempe Diablo Stadium against Chandler.

We have a potentially very talented outfield. Does that mean they will give the Beavers the production of this years outfield...highly unlikely. Reed,Turley,Dukart(Thomas) and Bazzana are very gifted. It's a good start...

Replacing Melton and Boyd is a ridiculous thing to hope for. Replacing Meckler isn't much easier at the plate atleast. Our team average was just under .296 and if you look at regular starters only it was (dukart at 3rd and fuches DH) you get .2996. If our team average can break .300 next year it would be something special. Even better would be for our team OBP to get up to .450 next year. Unless someone really blows up that would mean the team is consistently getting on base and advancing runners, a big problem this year.

Gavin Turley's tweet last night was beyond encouraging, particularly combined with his pre-draft assessment that "Day 1" would determine whether he signed w MLB or went to college.
Could the Diamondbacks jockey some things around and cough up big $$ to a 19th Round selection? Those who are more knowledgeable on how that all plays out can offer a better answer than I, BUT it's already being reported that AZ DB 1st Rounder Druw Jones has signed at slot (~ 8.2M) - and they have a helluva lot of talent between #2 and #18, including Golden Spikes Melendez with their 3rd pick (Round 2).
I'm wondering if any of the several excellent Casey's Corner historians would rank any previous OSU Recruit (among High School Senior Outfielders) ABOVE Turley in regard to the classic 'Five Tools' ?
Also, is Turley a 100% current regime recruit, or is there still some carryover from Bailey?

Turley committed to Oregon State following his freshman year at Wasatch HS in Midland, Utah in 2019. I believe that was a PB effort and has been nurtured by MC and staff.

I certainly don't expect osu to match the production next spring that we had this year. This may have been one of the most productive outfield's we have ever had. I think if we can make up for poor production at other positions,we won't need to get near the production we had in the outfield this year. Shortstop was dismal. 3B was mediocre at best. I expect Bazzana to be very capable of being in the ball park of Meckler stats-wise. Turley has big time skills and power. Could he have double digit homers as a frosh ala Conforto. It's possible.

Yeah, our worst hitting positions were SS, 3rd and DH...having a crap DH isn't great.

Yeah, our worst hitting positions were SS, 3rd and DH...having a crap DH isn't great. DH was the most frustrating. If Wheeler can get 90% healthy that would be welcome. .....and between Summer Ball 2022 and Fall Ball 2022 it seems almost impossible that something better than 2022 doesn't emerge at DH, by February 2023. Kennel (.863 OPS w 5 HR so far in WCL), Weber (.885 in WCL - depends on C depth), Kasper, Burke, Reeder, Donkey Jr., Macias, even an Okotok or two: Guerra .810 OPS this summer & McDowell 1.033 OPS with 19/23 SB (I know - that possibility has been 'talked out')...and more! (like Jacob Krieg - the #1 PG ranked HS 1B in Calif.)...and likely more. Lets hope that between all of those possibilities that called third strikes on the 2023 Beaver DH will be a rarity.

It is impossible to say enough about our "Pro outfield" of Meckler - Melton - Boyd. Can it get any better than that? Well, maybe.
It is difficult in July to predict who will be on the picket line next spring, but sooner or later you could see these three freshman filling up the outfield at Goss.
Freshman Dallas Macias in LF, RSF Tyree Reed in CF, and freshman Gavin Turley in RF. That would be the highest ranked outfield (prep rankings) ever at Oregon State (by quite a ways, no less).
All 3 were Perfect Game All Americans and Macias and Turley were the Gatorade Players of the Year in Colorado and Arizona. Prior to his knee injury, Reed was the #1 prep prospect in the nation at Prep Baseball Report for 6 mos.
Speed? Macias runs a 6.94 60, Reed a 6.58 and Turley a 6.29. Power? All 3 have HR power with Turley considered one of the top big bats in the country. Arms? Macias touched 90 mph as a pitcher over a year ago. Reed has a cannon from CF, and Turley's missiles are eye-popping and get top grades from the scouts.
Some of the loudest baseball tools in the country will be on display right here in Corvallis. They are freshman, there may be minor adjustments to be made but at some point soon, MC and Company will release the Hounds and game tickets will be very scarce.

I think Bazzana will be looked at strongly in the outfield if Trotsky can be a solid 2b. Ely is a guy who has played some outfield with the Knights and I'm sure will get a look in Fall ball possibly transitioning to the OF. I'm assuming Macias played shortstop mostly in high school,so it will be a transition for him too. It appears,we have lots of outfield prospects who are just unproven at this point. Really talented kids. I just hope we solidify the left side of the infield. Definitely need an upgrade or the vets step up in 2023.

Macias has a shortstop's glove and a pitchers hi-velo arm but the scouts think he is a "natural" in the outfield. He's strong at 6' and 196 and has the speed to play an OF position.
Scouts admire his smooth, rhythmic swing and consistent barrels from both sides - he's a switch hitter. The hit tool is his deal, consistently peppering the entire field with hard line drives.
2022: .522/ .617/ 1.010 and 1627 OPS 2021: .491/ .547/ .818 and 1365 OPS 2020: No season - Covid 19
184 plate appearances - 18 K's and 32 BB. 21 doubles, 3 triples, 8 HR's and 17 SB.
