It strikes me as a bit unusual to see the best young baseball players in Oregon playing the catcher's position. The norm has been to see pitchers fill the Top-5 slots in the state rankings - Keljo, Hill, Wilson, Talavs, Meyer, etc. Maybe it's a cyclical thing?
Shooter Hunt (Shooter lives in Oregon) and his team of scouts at Prep Baseball Report have determined Oregon's best young talent is behind the plate.
Class of 2024: Catcher Ryan Vandenbrink (OSU commit) from West Linn HS is the #1 ranked prospect in Oregon.
Catcher Troy Osborne from Grants Pass HS is the #2 ranked prospect in Oregon.
Class of 2025: Catcher Mark Wiepert from Wilsonville HS is the #1 ranked prospect in Oregon. Catcher Isaac Pfiefer from Tualatin HS is the #2 ranked prospect in Oregon.
Adley the catcher and Adley the person may be having a profound influence on the young players watching him perform at Oregon State . . . . "I want to be like Adley".

It might be time to dust off this old post and revisit the idea that Adley might have had a major influence on youngsters that were dreaming of becoming Beavers someday. In the original post, I observed the unusual number of Oregon's best prospects playing the Catcher position. The top-2 ranked players in the Oregon class of 2024 and 2025 are catchers.
Recently I have noticed an unusual number of Beaver recruits wearing the uniform number 35. Two more I noticed this week are Xavier Neyens (2025) and Ty Doucette (class of 2023). Number 35 is not all that common at the high school level or on Summer travel teams.
Coincidence?
FWIW: I can't think of a better role model, Hero or example of someone to model yourself and your game after that Adley.
